While Hannah enjoys some downtime, her professional life remains as busy as ever. The talented equestrian runs Descanso Farm, an elite boutique training and sales operation specializing in the development of top-tier hunter/jumper sport horses.
Established in 2010 after she retired her Grand Prix mare, Tosca van Het Lamboroek, the farm has evolved into a world-class breeding and training enterprise.
“Tosca’s first foal arrived in 2012 and was the catalyst for Selleck’s visionary endeavor to build Descanso Farm into a world-class breeding operation,” reads the farm’s mission statement.
Over the past decade, Hannah has seamlessly shifted her focus from breeding to training and developing high-quality sale horses, dedicating herself to nurturing the careers of her personal horses and those of her clients. “Selleck believes any equestrian must first be passionate about the horse before they are passionate about the sport,” her bio highlights.
A Lifelong Passion For Horses Inspired By Her Famous Father

Hannah’s love for riding began at an early age and was nurtured by her upbringing on her family’s ranch. She credits her passion for horses to her father, Tom Selleck, who learned how to ride for his iconic Western film roles.
“I started riding when I was four years old,” Hannah told Wellington International. “I grew up on a ranch and was lucky to have some lovely ranch horses. My dad knew how to ride; he had learned to ride for Western movies. He is a good horseman.”
Her early start led to a decorated junior career, where she earned numerous accolades, including team silver medals at the 2005 Prix des States Junior Jumper National Championship and the 2006 North American Junior and Young Rider Championships. She was named the United States Equestrian Federation Hunt Medal Finals Reserve Champion in 2007 and secured top honors at the Platinum Performance/USEF Show Jumping Talent Search Finals – West in 2008.
A Career Pivot That Led Her Back To The Show Ring

After graduating from Loyola Marymount University with a degree in communication studies, Hannah briefly explored a career in public relations. However, she quickly realized that her passion for horses was too strong to ignore.
“When I finished college, I thought I might want a career that would support me to ride at a high level as an amateur,” she told The Hollywood Reporter in 2015. “I got a job at a public relations firm as an internship and worked there for about six months in Beverly Hills. But that was the first time I had been away from the horses, and I was miserable.”
Ultimately, she returned to the equestrian world, building a successful career in competitive show jumping and horse breeding.
