Ben Affleck Reveals The Real Reason Why The FBI Visited His House After A 'Break-In' Incident

Ben Affleck has finally opened up about a recent visit by the FBI to his house.

The actor made the revelation during an interview, where he also revealed that an unknown individual claimed the visit was due to an investigation about a drone that crashed into a helicopter.

In the cover story, Ben Affleck also touched on his divorce from Jennifer Lopez and his co-parenting arrangement with his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner.

In January, Affleck's home received an unexpected visit from the FBI while he was not around. Upon his return home, news had already spread about the authorities' visit, with a number of speculations circulating about the reason.

Now, in his GQ cover story, the actor has revealed why they visited his home at the time.

"I call them and say, 'Hey, FBI, were you at my house? Do you want to talk to me?' 'Oh, we don't know.' I get transferred along," Affleck recalled his reaction. "Finally somebody who is actually responsible for what was happening was like, 'Oh, we had no idea that was your house.' "

Ultimately, Affleck discovered the real reason, which turned out to be a case of a "break-in of a federal official's home" within the area.

"So the FBI went around and whoever lived there," Affleck further explained. "The FBI rang their bell, but because there are photographers sitting outside and these guys have their FBI jackets on, then it's: The FBI has visited your house."

Speaking further, Affleck shared that one of the speculations that swirled at the time was about a drone that crashed into a helicopter. Although the situation was real, it had nothing to do with the FBI visit.

"[Someone] made up something about how it was related to an investigation about a drone that I guess did crash into one of the helicopters two or three miles up Mandeville Canyon. Turns out, no, it wasn't about that," the "Accountant" star shared.

"In fact, we were very far from where the drone was. So it's like: You've seen this event about the FBI at my house. I had no idea. My only involvement was to track it down, figure it out," Affleck added.

He further downplayed the FBI visit and similar incidents, stating that his life and habits lack the kind of juicy content that would attract tabloids.

"There's nothing newsworthy at all about the day-to-day events of my life or the conversation I have with one person or another person that's photographed," said the Argo actor and director, in part.

Despite Affleck's belief that he lives an uninteresting life, his divorce from Jennifer Lopez made headlines for months.

The two had first dated in the early 2000s and even got engaged at the time before ending the relationship. They rekindled their romance in 2021 and got married in 2022, but in August 2024, Lopez filed for divorce, which was finalized this January.

Looking back at the failed marriage, Affleck claimed that all the speculations that had swirled around the separation were wrong.

"There's a tendency to look at breakups and want to identify root causes or something. But honestly ... the truth is much more quotidian than probably people would believe or would be interesting," Affleck said

He added, "There's no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue. The truth is, when you talk to somebody, 'Hey, what happened?' Well, there is no, 'This is what happened.'"

Following his divorce from Lopez, Affleck has focused on his career and co-parenting his children with his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner.

The duo share three kids, Violet, 19, Seraphina, 16, and Samuel, 13, and have co-parented since their divorce.

Speaking about their relationship, Affleck described Garner as a solid "partner" whom he is grateful to have.

"I'm really lucky that I have a really good co-parent and partner in Jennifer Garner, the kids' mom, who's wonderful and great, and we work together well," he shared.

Affleck's recent praise of Garner comes after they sparked rumors of a rekindled romance due to an intimate hug shared by the former couple during a family outing.

In a video clip obtained by the Daily Mail, the duo was seen enjoying a family paintball session when Affleck pulled Garner in for a hug.

This set tongues wagging that Affleck and Garner may be considering getting back together after he finalized his split from Lopez.

However, a rep for Affleck has since shut down the rumors, noting that he has no interest in rekindling his romance with Garner.

Sources revealed that Garner is content in her relationship with her boyfriend, John Miller and that she and Affleck are simply friends.
