Gypsy Rose Blanchard And Ken Urker Open Up About Couples Therapy And Their Future Together

In their first joint interview since rekindling their romance, Gypsy and Ken sat down with People Magazine to discuss the second season of "Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup" and how their relationship has evolved. The reality star shared that therapy has played a significant role in helping them navigate their new chapter together.
"I like it because it gives an unbiased opinion," the ex-con explained. "Because you don't want to go to your family all the time to talk about the bad stuff. You never want to have anybody going, ‘Oh, I think…’ You don't want their opinions to be changed or affected or a bias or anything."
Gypsy Rose Has 'Always Felt That Way' About Ken

Having a neutral party has been particularly beneficial for their relationship. "So it's nice for us to have someone in the middle," she continued. "They can see my side, they can see his side, and give us an honest opinion about where we should go and how we could improve."
When asked if she envisions a future with Ken, with whom she shares their 2-month-old daughter Aurora, Gypsy didn’t hesitate.
"Absolutely. I've always felt that way about him," she said.
Gypsy Reflects On Rekindled Romance With Ken

Gypsy and Ken's relationship dates back to her time in prison, where they initially connected as pen pals after Ken reached out to her following HBO’s "Mommy Dead and Dearest" documentary. They became engaged in 2018 but later ended things, with Blanchard going on to marry Ryan Anderson.
Following her release from prison in December 2023, she briefly lived with Ryan before ultimately filing for divorce in the spring of 2024 and rekindling her romance with Ken. Just months later, the couple announced they were expecting a child together.
Now adjusting to life as parents, Gypsy admits that their relationship has changed significantly since they first met.
"I mean, you get to know someone a lot better," she said of living together. "Because when we first met, we were both young. We were in our mid-twenties, so we grew up. Learning each other is almost like dating a new partner, but then it's the old partner too."
She added that their current relationship allows for deeper conversations and a broader understanding of each other. "It just gives you more questions to ask, like, ‘Hey, I get to know you on a whole broader spectrum now.’ Whereas before, I was limited," she explained. "We only had phone calls and a visit every couple months."
Gypsy Hopes To ‘Break Down Walls’ With Ken As They Build Their Future Together

Looking ahead, Gypsy says she hopes they continue to grow together and break down any barriers between them.
"I really just hope we continue to have open communication," the 33-year-old shared. "I hope that we can get even more knowledge and let down our walls because I've built walls over many years, and I think everybody has a set of walls that they put up. So I think it would be wonderful for us to bring those down and be the most vulnerable that we've ever been with each other. That would be my goal."
As they navigate both parenthood and their rekindled relationship, the ex-con and Ken remain committed to building a stronger foundation together.
