Popular singer Ne-Yo has never been afraid to speak about his unconventional views on sex and dating. In February 2025, the "Miss Independent" performer confirmed he was in a polyamorous relationship with four women who took on different roles inside his home.
In March, Ne-Yo officially introduced the women (and their nicknames) to his nearly five million Instagram followers. Based on the response, however, many social media users were left unimpressed and wasted no time making that known.
Ne-Yo Says He's Building 'Community' With Multiple Girlfriends

Before Ne-Yo officially confirmed his polyamorous relationship, many people assumed that the father of seven was interested in the idea.
His ex-wife, former "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star Monyetta Shaw, opened up about their past in previous interviews and confirmed that the singer enjoyed bringing other women into their bedroom.
Since splitting, Ne-Yo has been outspoken about his views on polygamy. During a recent episode of the "Rickey Smiley Morning Show," the 45-year-old even admitted he had four girlfriends.
He also explained that his children, whom he shares with Shaw and two other women, Crystal Renay and Sade Jenea Bagnerise, have fostered relationships with the women before adding that each has a different role in his home, such as making breakfast and lunch and folding laundry.
"It’s family," he said. "It's community. That's what it's about."

On Instagram, Ne-Yo introduced his four girlfriends to the world with a carousel of images and videos set to Kanye West's 2007 song "Flashing Lights."
In the caption, the "So Sick" singer shared each of their names and nicknames before signing off with a very specific message.
"Since the world is so intrigued, I guess I should introduce my loves properly," he wrote. "LADIES AND GENTS, I PRESENT MY PYRAMID."
The hitmaker then presented Cristina ("Pretty Baby"), Arielle ("Twin Flame"), Moneii ("Phoneix Feather"), and Bri ("Sexy Lil' Somethin'").
"Say something nice or move on with your life. We happy over here," he finished.
The set of pictures and videos showcased individual shots of each woman plus a group photo of them at what appeared to be a fancy dinner.
Another clip showed the women posing in front of a 360 video booth, staring and blowing kisses into the camera while holding a sign that pointed to Kendrick Lamar's hit single, "Not Like Us."
Social Media Users Are Not Impressed With The Singer Or His Love Life

Immediately, netizens began commenting on Ne-Yo's relationship, and according to several, they're not impressed with the singer or his love life.
"The world isn't that intrigued," someone wrote. "YOU just keep putting it in our faces. NOBODY cares that much."
"We aren't intrigued; we are disgusted," a second user commented.
Others made sarcastic jokes and pointed to some of his music, which features lyrics about wanting to be with an independent woman who takes care of her own business.
"So, Miss Codependents?" a user on X, formerly Twitter, posted. "Miss Interdependents," another poster wrote.
Ne-Yo Doesn't Want The Government In His Bedroom

In April 2024, Ne-Yo discussed his position on polygamy with an interviewer at The Grove in Los Angeles, California. According to him, consenting adults should be free to do whatever the "hell they want to do" so long as nobody gets hurt.
Despite his position, however, the singer revealed he wasn't passionate enough to lobby for legal change surrounding the law in the United States just yet.
"I don't know. I'm not going to let it ruin my day. At the end of the day, the people that I love know that I love them, and they love me," he said.
He finished, "It works for me, might not work for you. So, find out what works for you."
The Singer's Ex-wife Speaks On Issues From The Past

Ne-Yo's ex-partners have all opened up about what they went through while being married to the "One In a Million" performer. Shaw, Ne-Yo's first wife, discussed her relationship in depth during an interview on the "Haus of Aaron" podcast in September 2023.
The Bravo reality star shared that she and Ne-Yo experienced many ups and downs together, and although they tried to make it work, the songwriter wasn't "ready." According to Shaw, their incompatibility led to them exploring options with other people.
When asked to clarify her statement, the reality star held up three fingers, seemingly suggesting the possibility of a "threesome."
"We did things together, so it's not cheating if you're involved with it," she added.
