Gal Gadot Recalls How She Was 'Scared To Death'

On March 10, Gadot appeared on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" and spoke candidly about her experience while pregnant with Ori.

After welcoming Gadot to the show, Fallon congratulated her on expanding her family and later asked her about the scare she had with her "newest baby."

Gadot revealed, "I had a huge scare. All of the sudden I realize what it means to be scared to death. I was very pregnant."

After a deep sigh, Gadot explained that she was talking about her experience because she thought it was important to do so "because if someone out there in the world is going to have the same thing and because she heard my story she's going to get checked, then I've done my part."

Gadot went on to share her symptoms, saying, "I had major headaches for three weeks. And I've seen doctors and different neurologists."

She then advised women, "You got to advocate for your health. Our bodies are always communicating with us. We just need [to] listen and get checked. If anything, you're going to check — you're going to over-check yourself, but it's better to over-check than to not check."

The "Wonder Woman" actress revealed that her doctors initially thought she had a migraine. She explained, "And they're like, 'It's probably a migraine. It's the hormones.'"

After three weeks of dealing with the "crazy headaches," Gadot's mom advised her to go for an MRI scan. She heeded the advice, and they discovered "this horrible thing," after which she was "rushed to the hospital."

Gadot, who appeared on Fallon's show to promote her latest movie, "Snow White," in which she plays the Evil Queen, also revealed how her daughters reacted to her portrayal of a villainous character.

She shared that she is "kinda curious," as they have yet to see the movie. However, she said, "I think once they are gonna watch the film, I'm going to look at them like this [pushes back on her seat], because I'm quite nervous from the reaction."

Gadot explained further, "They're so used to seeing me play the goody and the straight heroine." Fallon then interjected, noting that her daughters must have thought she would play Snow White.

The mother of four agreed, saying, "Exactly. So, Maya, the eight-year-old, when I told them 'I'm going to do "Snow White," she was like, 'Yay!' And then Alma goes, 'She's playing the Evil Queen. She's not playing Snow White.' And Maya goes, 'What? Is that true?' And I go like this [nods]...And she's like, 'Noooo!'"

She opened up about a terrifying personal experience—being diagnosed with a massive blood clot in her brain during the eighth month of pregnancy.

After being rushed into emergency surgery, Gal Gadot gave birth to Ori during a moment of deep fear and uncertainty.

"Her name, meaning "my light," wasn't chosen by chance," she explained. "Before the surgery, I told Jaron that when our daughter arrived, she would be the light waiting for me at the end of this tunnel."

Thanks to skilled doctors and weeks of recovery, she is now fully healed, while her daughter is doing okay.

Gadot hopes her story raises awareness, reminding others to listen to their bodies.

She concluded, "Sharing this is not meant to frighten anyone but to empower. If even one person feels compelled to take action for their health because of this story, it will have been worth sharing."
