Wendy Williams' guardianship continues to gain attention, with authorities becoming the latest agencies curious about her situation.
The former talk show host has been making waves for her guardianship situation, with family and friends claiming she was mentally capable, unlike her court-appointed conservator's claims.
Earlier this year, Wendy Williams shed light on her alleged situation during a phone interview, calling her care facility a "luxury prison." Now, new reports say New York cops and the Adult Protective Services are investigating the truth behind her claims.
Wendy Williams Gets Her Wish As Her Guardianship Is Spotlighted

According to sources, New York authorities have launched two separate investigations into Williams' guardianship. They noted the former TV personality had an interview with Adult Protective Services about her living conditions in a New York assisted-living facility.
The APS also called people close to Williams, asking the same questions. The list included her niece, Alex Finnie, whom they reportedly queried about the various restrictions placed on the entertainer in her guardianship.
Meanwhile, cops visited Williams at the facility as part of a welfare check. TMZ noted an NYPD patrol car was parked outside the building on Monday morning. The outlet claimed that Williams, through people close to her, implored authorities and the APS to launch an investigation into her guardianship.
The Former Talk Show Host Appears To Cry For Help

A video capturing Williams at the New York care facility recently made waves as it showcased her seemingly asking for help. In the clip, the former radio personality was standing by the window of her room while talking on the phone.
Williams seemed distressed, asking the photographer shooting the video for help. The clip surfaced shortly after it was reported that Williams lived on the facility's 5th floor. She was being kept in their memory unit and could not leave the floor without an attendant's approval.
Multiple people connected to Williams stressed that she had no memory problems and should not be kept in the facility's memory unit. They bashed her stay there as inhumane, sparking concerns about the former talk show host's well-being.
Williams' Guardianship Drama Sparks A Proposed Law To Support Her Family

In January, The Blast shared that Williams' guardianship situation had caught the attention of a New York State senator named Anthony Palumbo. He joined the cause to help the entertainer spend more time with her family and proposed a new law.
According to Palumbo, "Karilyn's Law" would allow families to visit loved ones by filing a motion with the court. The process offered the guardian 10 days to share why the relative or relatives should not have access to the person under their care.
If their arguments fail to move the court, the family members would be cleared to visit their loved ones. Palumbo stressed that this law, if implemented, would ensure families had legitimate means of visiting their relatives under any form of conservatorship.
Inside The National Radio Hall of Fame Honoree's Conservatorship Claims

During her viral phone interview, Williams disputed her conservator's claims about her mental state. "I am not cognitively impaired, you know what I'm saying? But I feel like I'm in prison," she declared, adding:
"I'm in this place where the people are in their 90s and, their 80s, and 70s… There's something wrong with these people here on this floor."
Williams alleged that she was isolated, noting she only got to engage with "nursemaids" who delivered unknown pills to her room on schedule. She also bashed her conservatorship as "emotional abuse," stressing that she had no freedom or control of her movement and finances.
The entertainer's niece, Alex, echoed similar sentiments during the interview. She alleged that her aunt was kept in a small room and forced to live under horrific conditions, including having a single window that supplied insufficient sunlight.
Wendy Williams' Attorney Denied Her Mental Stability Claims

Following Williams' viral phone interview, her attorney, Roberta Kaplan, refuted her mental stability claims. The legal rep stressed that her client's performance during the interview should not be seen as evidence of her overall health.
Kaplan claimed Williams had good and bad days and supported the conservator's claims of the former host being "cognitively impaired." She reflected on her client's guardianship journey, reminding fans that a judge had deemed Williams incapable of making independent legal and financial decisions.
The attorney added that Williams might never make a full recovery, stating she would require intensive adult care for the rest of her life because of the degenerative nature of her disease. Williams was reportedly diagnosed with frontal lobe dementia, a condition that influenced her conservatorship.
Will Wendy Williams prove these claims are false and escape her conservatorship?
