Why Blake Lively May Finally Be Regretting Her 'It Ends With Us' Lawsuit Against Justin Baldoni

It seems Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds may be regretting the lawsuit filed against her "It Ends With Us" co-star and director, Justin Baldoni.

The "Gossip Girl" alum accused her co-star of sexual harassment on the set of the film, while Baldoni, in his countersuit, alleges that she worked behind the scenes to wrestle creative control of the film away from her.

Although many leaked text messages have cast doubt on Lively's claims, it seemed like she was set to take her accusations to trial, with a court date set for March 2026. However, she may be ready to change her mind now that intimate information about her family is threatened to be exposed.

Blake Lively May Back Down From Justin Baldoni Over The Release Of Sensitive Information

There have been a lot of text messages leaked that don't exactly reflect highly on Lively’s reputation (such as calling close friend Taylor Swift a "gorgeous monster" and referring to the pop star as one of her "dragons. ")

However, it seems that the text messages might be the least of her worries, as she fears sensitive medical information about her family might be leaked to the public ahead of the trial's start date. On Thursday, their respective legal teams were present for yet another hearing, in which her attorneys expressed concern that sensitive information about her and her family, like her security arrangements and medical information, might be leaked to the press.

Her lawyers claimed that details about her children or even “profound mental issues” would be leaked to the press if Baldoni’s team had that information. At this point, it’s not clear whether Lively does have “profound mental issues” or if her lawyers are just trying to suggest that Baldoni is going to use whatever information he can to paint her in a bad light.

But, considering its her legal team that’s bringing up alleged “profound mental issues” that the actress might or might not have, it seems that Baldoni’s team doesn’t have to work all that hard, considering Lively’s alleged “issues” are making headlines anyway.

Baldoni’s Team Slams Lively’s Lawyers And Their ‘Offensive’ Accusation

At the hearing, Baldoni’s team rejected the “offensive” notion that they would ever leak someone’s medical or mental health issues to the press. They also spoke on Lively’s attorney’s attempts to protect conversations with her husband, Ryan Reynolds, and her famous celebrity friends, noting that she was asking for a “different law” to keep those exchanges private.

Lively’s lawyer, Meryl Governskii, had previously said that he is trying to prevent “irreparable harm” to Lively, Reynolds, and their respective teams by requesting an “Attorney’s Eyes Only” order on their case in order to protect “trade secrets.”

Do Baldoni’s Lawyers Pose A Risk To Blake Lively’s Security?

Lively’s legal team has insisted that she has to protect her and her family from a possible “retaliatory campaign” allegedly launched by Baldoni and his camp, noting that Baldoni had subpoenaed a security firm that works with the couple. When Judge Lewis Liman asked if Governskii was insinuating that Baldoni’s lawyers were “a risk” to Lively’s “security,” she said no, they didn’t.

Lively’s lawyer also claimed that Baldoni had an “unlimited budget” to take her down and had “committed $100 million to ruin the lives of Ms. Lively and her family,” which is a pretty hefty sum for a director that most people had never heard of until Blake Lively filed her lawsuit.

Elsewhere during the hearing, Governskii suggested that Baldoni’s legal team would still leak Lively’s private information because, as she alleges, “the PR value is greater than complying with the court’s orders.”

While Baldoni’s attorney Bryan Freedman said that it was “rather offensive anyone would suggest we’d disregard a protective order,” he also insinuated that Lively and her family were looking for special treatment due to their celebrity status.

“It feels like what the other side are asking for is because there is celebrity, because there are powerful people in the industry somehow they get treated differently, somehow there's a different law that applies to them that otherwise wouldn't apply to normal everyday people,” he said during the hearing.

Freedman “wouldn’t dispute” that Lively’s medical records should be kept confidential and rejected the notion that they would leak information about her security detail to the press, noting that it was “not even remotely relevant” to the trial.

He called her concerns “a complete ruse,” adding, “I don’t even know why that even comes up and why that’s even a concern.” However, he did note that Baldoni’s addresses had already been leaked to the public in court papers filed by Lively, which he deemed “highly offensive and unnecessary.”

So What Does This Mean For The Trial?

At this point, it seems that Lively is again abiding by the rules-for-thee-and-not-for-me mentality. Baldoni’s addresses have already been leaked in her filing, but she seems only concerned with protecting where she lives, along with other sensitive information. She has previously stated that her four children have been “traumatized” by the trial (the oldest is 9, the youngest is 2), but Baldoni also has two children who are well aware of what is going on.

Suffering from sexual harassment is horrible, but so is growing up with a father who is potentially wrongly accused of such to settle whatever behind-the-scenes vendetta they have. Her attorney’s assertion that Baldoni’s legal team would leak her “profound mental issues” – which no one even suggested she had until her own lawyer brought it up in court – is a bizarre move that’s unlikely to win them any points with the judge, who already blocked her request for Baldoni’s call logs and texts.

If she is so afraid that Baldoni’s legal team is going to leak her private conversations with her celebrity friends, her medical and alleged mental health issues, and details about her security team, then she should look for a settlement quickly and wait for this to all blow over in the ever-churning news cycle.

After all, it doesn’t end with us. It ends with her.
