Adrien Brody Mentions Harvey Weinstein's Kids In Oscars Speech

While accepting the Academy Award for Best Actor for his role in "The Brutalist" on Sunday, Brody referenced his girlfriend's two kids during his six-minute speech.
"I share this with my amazing partner, Georgina, who has not only reinvigorated my own self-worth but my sense of value and my values and her beautiful children, Dash and India," Brody said, holding up his golden statuette.
"It's been a roller coaster, but thank you for accepting me into your life, and Popsy's coming home a winner," he added, using the nickname the children have given him.
Following the speech, Weinstein's representative, Juda Engelmayer, provided a statement to The Post, saying, "Harvey is happy for Georgina and grateful that his kids are being loved and cared for as they deserve to be."
Georgina Chapman Finalizes Divorce Amid Harvey Weinstein's Scandal

Chapman filed for divorce from Weinstein in 2017, as allegations of rape, sexual assault, and sexual harassment against the producer emerged, leading to the inception of the #MeToo movement. Their divorce was finalized in 2021.
Weinstein's downfall was marked by accusations from numerous high-profile actresses, including Rose McGowan, Ashley Judd, Lauren Holly, Mira Sorvino, Sean Young, and Annabella Sciora, among others. Several accusers claimed that rejecting Weinstein's advances led to them being blacklisted in Hollywood.
In 2020, Weinstein was convicted in New York of forcibly performing oral sex on a former assistant in 2006 and committing third-degree rape in 2013. However, the conviction was overturned in 2024.
Weinstein remains incarcerated, serving a 16-year sentence in California for a separate conviction. Recently, he was transferred to New York's Rikers Island for a retrial set to begin in April.
During his imprisonment, Weinstein has reportedly faced numerous health challenges, including cardiac issues, diabetes, sleep apnea, and eye problems. In 2024, he was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia.
Adrien Brody's Gum-Throwing Oscars Moment Sparks Backlash

Adrien Brody found himself at the center of controversy following his appearance at the 2025 Academy Awards, where he took home his second Best Actor Oscar for his performance in "The Brutalist."
The 51-year-old actor shocked audiences when he removed his gum and tossed it to his girlfriend, Georgina Chapman, while walking up the stage to accept his award.
The unexpected gesture drew widespread criticism, with social media erupting in disbelief over Brody's seemingly casual move. However, Brody addressed the backlash during an appearance on "Live With Kelly and Mark," where he offered an unapologetic explanation. "I could've swallowed it, but I didn't think about that. I had to get rid of it somehow," Brody said.
Chapman later admitted that she didn't manage to catch the gum, despite her attempt.
The gum-throwing moment wasn't the only source of controversy surrounding Brody's Oscars night. The actor also sparked criticism for delivering the longest acceptance speech in Academy Awards history, clocking in at five minutes and 40 seconds.
Adrien Brody Refuses To Cut Oscars Speech Short

Brody appeared unfazed as the orchestra began playing over his speech, signaling him to wrap up. Rather than comply, Brody interrupted his own speech to ask the music to stop.
"I'm wrapping up. Please. Please. I will wrap up," Brody pleaded on stage. "Please turn the music off. I've done this before. It's not my first rodeo. I will be brief."
Despite his promises, Brody continued for a full 558 words, far exceeding the suggested 45-second time limit for acceptance speeches.
"One thing that I've gained, having the privilege to come back here, is to have some perspective," Brody said. "No matter where you are in your career, no matter what you've accomplished, it can all go away. And I think what makes this night most special is the awareness of that."
Brody Makes Oscars History With Second Best Actor Win

The "Pianist" star, who made history as the first actor to win two Best Actor Oscars from his first two nominations, continued, "It is a chance to begin again. And the opportunity to hopefully be fortunate enough that for the next 20 years of my life, I can prove that I am worthy of such meaningful, important and relevant roles."
Brody's victory came over fellow nominees Timothée Chalamet, Ralph Fiennes, Sebastian Stan, and Colman Domingo.
