Gabrielle Unionbreathes a sigh of relief after being consumed with fear and concern over her husband, Dwyane Wade's health.

The star actress finally spoke up in the aftermath of her former NBA star husband's health scare, which initially left her in a very shaken state.

Gabrielle Union also confirmed that Dwyane Wade kept his medical struggles safely tucked away from the attention of most of his family and the public.

The 52-year-old popped in for an interview during the New York premiere of her new film "Riff Raff" to speak on a few things, including Wade's current situation.

In her words: "He's cancer-free now. He was smart to delay talking about his diagnosis and the surgery for over a year to give us all a little time to make peace with it and let all of our very intense fears kind of dissipate a little bit, but he's brave."

Union stressed that the former basketballer is doing well, and there is a sense of pride in his bravery. According to her, Wade took the necessary steps to address his health and publicly chose to share his journey.

The actress expressed in the interview with Access Hollywood that they hoped that by him doing so and being vulnerable, he could inspire and possibly save others facing similar challenges.

The actress also appeared on "The View" as part of the promo for her new project. She touched on Wade's health scare, sharing that he is now cancer-free. "He's had the surgery, and he's cancer-free, but it was a challenge," she noted.

Union also revealed that the former NBA player kept his diagnosis largely private, sharing the information with only a small circle of family members. She described her reaction upon receiving distressing news from Wade as one of profound shock and paralysis due to fear. 

Instead of focusing on the potential for survival, she immediately succumbed to the thought of the worst-case scenario, which was the loss of Wade.

While she had many friends who had overcome cancer, her mind went straight to the idea of him being gone, and it took time for everyone involved to process the situation.

The father-of-five also voiced out his thoughts upon receiving the diagnosis of a cancerous tumor on his right kidney in 2023. He hopped on his "The Why With Dwyane Wade" podcast in the January 39 episode to discuss the development.

"I think it was the first time that my family, my dad, my kids, they saw me weak," he acknowledged. The NBA champ added that he often felt isolated but ultimately found strength in his family's support.

He expressed gratitude for their presence, acknowledging that, despite differences in communication and opinions, they always showed up for him during difficult times.

The athlete candidly shared the pressure he felt as a man to appear strong, admitting it was challenging to let his family witness his vulnerable moments. However, he recognized the importance of embracing those weaknesses and accepting their support.

Speaking of surgery, the actress is not ignorant of the overwhelming reports of her allegedly fixing her face. Union explained that her near-constant public presence prevented her from getting an actual facelift. 

"As much as what happens or doesn't happen with my face is speculated, [you're usually] missing for six months [after getting] a facelift," she added. The Hollywood icon finally declared, "I've never been missing for six months. Get it right!

She made this statement while promoting the new SimStyled salon experience with JCPenney Salons in Los Angeles. Union and her close friend Larry Sims, also a celebrity hairstylist, launched the partnership with the famous retailing company.
