Brian Laundrie's parents ripped into Netflix's documentary, "American Murder: Gabby Petito," calling it biased and inaccurate.
The three-part docuseries explores Gabby Petito's disappearance, murder and Brian Laundrie's suicide through texts, video footage, and interviews with her family and friends.
Laundrie Family Denounces Netflix Documentary On Gabby Petito Case

Brian Laundrie's parents have condemned a new Netflix documentary about their son's murder of his girlfriend, Gabby Petito, calling it biased and riddled with inaccuracies, despite their refusal to share their own version of events.
The docuseries, "American Murder: Gabby Petito," highlights allegations that Chris and Roberta Laundrie obstructed the investigation when their son's girlfriend disappeared during a cross-country trip in 2021.
"The documentary was what we expected," said the Laundrie family's attorney, Steven Bertolino, in a statement obtained by NBC's "Today."
"One perspective depicted as the 'truth' as seen through their lens. Similar to Republicans and Democrats fighting it out lately. Each side believes their perspective is correct. Hard to see through the lens of the other with all the noise and distrust," he continued.
Bertolino also said that "the documentary contained many inaccuracies, incorrect juxtapositions of timelines, and misstatements and omissions of fact — perhaps deliberate to capture their 'truth,' perhaps due to simple error."
The Attorney Said The Parents Of Gabby And Laundrie Should Be Left To 'Remember Them In Peace'

Despite Laundrie's parents' criticisms of the Netflix documentary, their attorney, Bertolino, acknowledged the undeniable reality at the heart of the tragic case.
"We all know Brian took Gabby's life and Brian then took his own as well," the attorney stated. "Let the parents of both Gabby and Brian mourn and remember them in peace."
The three-part Netflix series, which premiered last Monday, chronicles Petito's disappearance and murder through interviews with her loved ones.
It also includes text messages, video clips, and excerpts from her personal journals.
Netflix Filmmakers Say The Laundrie Family Declined Participation In The Docuseries

According to the filmmakers, they reached out to the Laundrie family for input, but their request was declined.
"They didn't want to participate, and we respect that," said Julia Willoughby Nason, one of the documentary's directors, per the New York Post. "This is a very difficult story."
Laundrie's older sister has also addressed the documentary and her strained relationship with their parents.
In a February 17 Instagram post, Cassie Laundrie revealed she hadn't spoken to her parents in nearly two years.
"If you're new here and just starting to attack me today, I've been no-contact with my parents for almost two years. Have fun," Cassie noted.
The Disappearance And Tragic End Of Gabby Petito

The case captivated the nation in the summer of 2021 when Petito vanished during a cross-country road trip with Laundrie, which they had been documenting on YouTube.
On September 1, Laundrie returned alone to his parents' home in Florida, offering no explanation for Gabby's absence.
When her family couldn't get answers from the Laundries, they reported her missing 10 days later—sparking a nationwide search that would end in tragedy.
Petito's body was found on September 19 in Grand Teton National Park, where she had been strangled and abandoned by Laundrie.
Following the issuance of an arrest warrant for Laundrie, police body cam footage emerged, showing his parents declining to assist investigators or provide any details about their son's location.
A month later, Laundrie's remains were discovered in a Florida nature reserve. He had taken his own life, leaving behind a written confession admitting to Gabby's murder.
'Netflix's American Murder: Gabby Petito' Reveals New Details On Her Fears And Troubled Relationship
In the Netflix docuseries, "American Murder: Gabby Petito," Petito confided in her ex-boyfriend, Jackson, that she was considering leaving Laundrie but feared his reaction just days before she was murdered in the Wyoming wilderness.
The series unveils never-before-seen text messages between Petito, Laundrie, and key figures in the case, including Laundrie's mother, Roberta.
It also includes fresh interviews with her parents, stepparents, former boyfriend, and close friends, shedding new light on the turbulent relationship leading up to her death.
Filmmakers Julia Willoughby Nason and Michael Gasparro, who directed and executive produced the project, spoke to Fox News Digital about their responsibility to tell Petito's story carefully.
"It's really important to make sure that we have the people that were directly involved in it being part of the doc," Gasparro explained. "The family is at the start of this."
"Looking at her text messages with Brian for the first time, knowing that he had murdered her was haunting because it was like the manipulation… was very subtle," Nason said. "And I think that we're hoping that this series can show the subtlety of intimate partner abuse, especially among young people."
