Kanye West Catches Another Legal Woe Amid Rumors Of His Dying Marriage

Kanye 'Ye' West is not catching a break this February, as a deposition order enters the mix of his troubles.

The rapper's new situation comes on the heels of him clearing up divorce rumors in his marriage to former Yeezy architect Bianca Censori.

Kanye 'Ye' West has been ordered to make himself available for a deposition in an ongoing case against him by former employee Benjamin Deshon Provo.

According to court records, a Los Angeles judge has mandated the rapper to physically appear for the deposition and not via any online platform. The deposition is part of Provo's accusations of racial discrimination and harassment against the rapper.

In Touch shared that Provo has been trying for months to schedule a deposition with Ye, but frustrations arose due to Ye's failure to appear for a properly noticed deposition and provide alternative dates.

In response, Provo requested that Ye be sanctioned. The judge ultimately ordered Ye to attend an in-person deposition by April 29 and granted Provo sanctions totaling $500, which Ye must pay within 30 days.

Ye's new attorney, Eduardo Martorell, expressed his opposition to the plaintiff's request to compel Ye to attend a deposition and for sanctions against him. Martorell mentioned that a date had been agreed upon for the deposition, set for April 29. 

However, Provo countered in court, claiming that Eduardo had misrepresented their agreement and had not signed the stipulation regarding Ye's deposition as was supposedly promised.

Provo's lawyer expressed concerns that Ye and his legal team might attempt to avoid having Ye appear in person for a deposition, possibly insisting on a virtual format instead. 

The lawyer highlighted his client's awareness of Ye's conduct during previous depositions, citing instances where Ye had disrupted proceedings, such as wearing a Halloween mask and engaging in other inappropriate conduct.

As a result, the former employee and his legal team requested a court order mandating that Ye appear in person for his deposition.

Provo began his role as a security guard at Ye's Donda Academy in 2021 after being introduced to Ye by a mutual friend. 

As time passed, he took on additional responsibilities, including working at Ye's Sunday Service and managing tasks at the warehouse where Ye stored his Yeezy apparel. Provo expressed that Ye never hid his displeasure towards Black authors. In his words:

"Specifically, in or around mid-2023, Kanye required that anyone associated with Donda dispose of books related to Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X, and other prominent figures in the Black community."

Kanye also consistently voiced negative views about notable Black leaders who are dedicated to advocating for and uplifting the Black community. Provo noted that he found the behavior unsettling and concerning because he takes optimum pride in his Black identity and heritage.

Provo also mentioned that the designer was biased in his interaction with Black and non-Black employees of his company.

"While Kanye was polite and attentive to his non-Black counterparts, Kanye was always abrupt, abrasive, and demeaning of [Benjamin] and his Black counterparts," the lawsuit noted.

The former employee added that he earned less than his colleagues who were not Black for no reason. He also cited the discrimination he received due to his Muslim faith and choice of dreadlocks.

In April 2023, Ye reportedly began insisting that Provo and others shave their heads, which he found unjustifiable and unreasonable. Despite facing pressure from Ye and other bosses to comply, Provo stressed that he objected to the request, and his refusal allegedly led to his termination.

Ye's legal team has denied all of the former employee's allegations, stating, "The alleged conduct of Defendants was at all times undertaken in the good-faith exercise of a legitimate business purpose."

On one hand, The Blast shared that Ye is currently fighting off divorce allegations. The rapper's long-time rep, Milo Yiannopoulos, denied the report in a statement.

According to Yiannopoulous, the couple are in Los Angeles, about to enjoy Valentine's Day together." The rep assured that any serious announcements about their private life would come from them directly, not unsourced rumors in the tabloid press.

"Is this the fifth oris it the sixth time the press has wrongly reported that Ye and Bianca are separating? I've lost track," Yiannopoulous concluded.

On the rumors, Censori reportedly has had enough of the designer's shenanigans, mainly his antisemitic and Nazi rants, and intends to leave the marriage behind as quickly as possible.
