In a recent interview, actor Seth Rogen shared his blunt take on President Donald Trump's victory in the elections.

Seth Rogen also noted that while he doesn't want to get "dark" about the present political climate, America has been "a very divided country."

During a chat with Esquire, Rogen didn't hold back when sharing his unfiltered thoughts on Trump's 2024 election win.

Reflecting on the cyclical nature of American politics, the 42-year-old actor explained: "People get sick of seeing f-cking hippies doing acid and f-cking on their lawns, and they're like, 'Let's f-cking clean up these streets a little bit."

He continued, "And then people get sick of seeing f-cking dorks cleaning up the streets, and they go back the other way."

The "Pineapple Express" star, originally from Vancouver, Canada, also spoke about how he maintains perspective during politically turbulent times.

"I personally try not to go too dark on all of it and think like, 'Oh, are we on the precipice of global societal collapse?'" he admitted, per the Daily Mail. "Since the end of the Civil War, America's remained a very divided country in a lot of ways."

During the chat, Rogen acknowledged the severe impact of the country's ongoing shifts, making it clear he isn't dismissing the consequences.

"That's not to say it doesn't have very real and troubling ramifications on many people's lives," he said.

Still, the "This Is The End" star shared that he tries "to maintain hope that the ball will roll onwards, even though it might be wobbling back and forth."

During the chat, Rogen also shared his thoughts on how cinema often mirrors the cultural moment.

"I think movies are a good indicator of the culture," he explained. "Like, there was the westerns era, and then it got more thoughtful, movies like 'Apocalypse Now' and 'Platoon' that critiqued the Vietnam War."

Rogen added: "And then the irony was stripped away, and it was just Arnold Schwarzenegger back in the jungle just shooting the living f-ck out of everything. It just ebbs and flows."

Seth Rogen's Has Been Very Critical Of Politicians In The Past

Rogen has never shied away from speaking out on political and cultural issues, including a heated exchange with Senator Ted Cruz in 2021.

The two clashed on January 20, just weeks after the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

The dispute began when Cruz criticized President Joe Biden's decision to rejoin the Paris Climate Agreement, tweeting, "By rejoining the Paris Climate Agreement, President Biden indicates he's more interested in the views of the citizens of Paris than in the jobs of the citizens of Pittsburgh. This agreement will do little to affect the climate and will harm the livelihoods of Americans."

Rogen didn't hold back in his response, firing off, "F-ck off, you fascist." Cruz shot back sarcastically, calling it a "charming, civil, educated response."

The senator continued, "@Sethrogen If you're a rich, angry Hollywood celebrity, today's Dems are the party for you. If you're blue collar, if you're a union member, if you work in energy or manufacturing… not so much."

Rogen doubled down with a sharp retort: "If you're a white supremacist fascist who doesn't find it offensive when someone calls your wife ugly, Ted Cruz is the exact motherf-cker for you."

Rogen later elaborated on his heated exchange with Cruz during an appearance on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert."

Speaking on the CBS talk show in May 2021, the actor doubled down on his criticism of the Texas senator, calling him a "fascist" for supporting Donald Trump's efforts to overturn the 2020 election.

"Ted Cruz is a fascist—he denies the reality of the election, his words caused people to die, and I'm making jokes about it," he said.

Rogen's opposition to Trump wasn't new. In a March 2017 interview with the Daily Beast, he explained his stance, saying, "I don't want to look back in 10 years and think, 'I just didn't say anything during that time,' because it seems like a time when it's very important to normalize dissent."

Rogen emphasized that despite his criticisms of the billionaire mogul, he didn't mean to insult his voters.

"I've been very conscious not to insult people who voted for Donald Trump—I don't want to insult people," he said at the time, per the Daily Mail.

Instead, Rogen saw his remarks as a way to reinforce a widespread perspective.

The actor noted, "The way I think of it is just normalizing the idea that a lot of people do not think that he is a good president, and do not think that he is bringing the country in a good direction, and not making it seem like some fringe, out-there thing that only really aggressive people who have whipped themselves into some sort of frenzy are expressing."
