Khloé Kardashian Reunites With Ex Lamar Odom For Closure On 'The Kardashians'

Khloé Kardashian confronted her past head-on by sitting down with her ex-husband, Lamar Odom, for the first time in nearly a decade.

Odom, who has been open about his struggles with addiction, previously reflected on their whirlwind romance, which saw them tie the knot in 2009 after just 30 days of knowing each other. 

Khloé Kardashian and Lamar Odom's fast-paced romance ended in a 2013 divorce, which was officially finalized in 2016.

After nearly a decade with no contact, Kardashian arranged a private reunion with her ex-husband, choosing her best friend Malika Haqq's house as the meeting spot. 

The reality TV star explained on the season 6 premiere of "The Kardashians" that this reunion was not about rekindling anything but about finally letting go.

"I haven't had contact with Lamar in nine years, and I just think it's time to shed as much as I can," she shared. She reflected on the deep emotional toll of their past, admitting:

"This was such the love of my life that to learn how to unlove someone — to have to go through all that — it's almost like a death."

PEOPLE reported that Kardashian's decision to meet Odom wasn't rooted in a need for healing but rather a practical gesture. In her words:

"I don't have bad blood. I don't have any blood. There's no feelings. I want him to have his stuff…and that's it. I wish I could just do that and not have a conversation."

On the premiere episode, the mother-of-two did not just remember the bad times, she spoke about their marriage with affection, calling Odom the "love of my life."

"I got married when I was 24, and although him and I got married 30 days to the day after meeting one another, I loved him with all of my heart and soul," Kardashian said in a confessional. 

She emphasized how seriously she took her vows and reflected on their nearly seven-year marriage, admitting, "There were bigger things that were not fixable in that marriage."

The entrepreneur also recalled Odom's near-fatal overdose in 2015, including how she stayed by his side, caring for him during his recovery, but ultimately had to make the difficult decision to sever ties. 

The 40-year-old revealed that she "had to break contact with him," explaining that he was "repeating some of the same behaviors that I just couldn't stand for."

Although they had since split and moved on with their lives, in 2022,The Blast reported how Odom reflected on how his drug addiction damaged his relationship with Kardashian. 

In an interview for the documentary "Lamar Odom: Sex, Drugs & Kardashians," the 45-year-old admitted to the host Harvey Levin that his drug dependency consumed his life. In his words:

"Drugs was my girlfriend. I had a wife… and cocaine." 

When asked if Kardashian was aware of his drug use, the former basketballer shared that he eventually had to come clean about his secret. Odom also spoke about how Kardashian stood by him during his darkest moments, even after their divorce. The star became emotional, stating:

"Behind the scenes I put her through some sh-t. The things that y'all think y'all know are crazy. But the stories that y'all don't know is really crazy."

Odom also opened up about how Kardashian supported him during his recovery after a life-threatening overdose, sharing that her constant presence helped him rebuild his life.

Odom praised the socialite for visiting him regularly during his recovery, calling her his "angel" and a "trooper." He recalled waking up from a coma with memory loss and physical limitations, but Kardashian's support was unwavering. 

"Her spirit, always being there, her bringing pictures of my mother, my grandmother, just to help me bring my memory back," he said. Their relationship faced multiple struggles beyond Odom's drug addiction, including cheating scandals that plagued their marriage. 

Kardashian uncovered his infidelity multiple times, which was widely reported by the media and left fans questioning why she stayed. Odom admitted his regret for cheating on the media personality, calling it a mistake he regrets "every day."

Before facing her ex-husband in the premiere episode of their show, The Blast highlighted that Kardashian was pleasantly surprised in the season 5 finale to learn her biological age was that of a 28-year-old, despite being 40.

The episode captured her reaction as test results showed that she had the slowest aging system, even beating her sister Kim in the process. Kardashian was especially thrilled, exclaiming:

"Never in a million years! If I had to bet money, I would've never bet on myself ... Kim is livid, by the way. I know she's pissed."

In her confessional, she took pride in her journey, shutting down body shamers who once labeled her the "fat one." She proudly declared, "The world needs to know that me, the fat one, is now better than the best one."
