Travis Kelce On Donald Trump's Super Bowl Attendance Amid Taylor Swift Political Drama

Travis Kelce is ready to welcome President Donald Trump at Super Bowl LIX with open arms.

Trump officially took office on January 20, 2026, and has already made several public appearances to kick off his second presidency. Now, he's ready to add Super Bowl LIX to the list.

Travis Kelce and his Chiefs teammates, including quarterback Patrick Mahomes, will face off against the Philadelphia Eagles in one of the most highly anticipated matchups of the season.

During a press conference on Wednesday, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end was asked about Trump's plans to attend the big game, and he had nothing but positive things to say.

"That's awesome. It's a great honor," Kelce told reporters.

"I think, you know, no matter who the president is, I know I'm excited because it's the biggest game of my life," he continued. "And having the president there, you know, it's the best country in the world. So, that'd be pretty cool."

Kelce's comments come months after Trump attacked Kelce's girlfriend, pop star Taylor Swift, after she publicly endorsed Kamala Harris. "I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!" Trump posted on Truth Social in September 2024.

Swift also criticized Trump for sharing an AI-generated image that falsely depicted her endorsing him. Addressing the controversy in an interview with Fox Business, Trump dismissed concerns about potential legal action from Swift, claiming the images "were all made up by other people."

Despite the latest drama, Trump has previously expressed admiration for Swift, at least when it comes to her appearance. In "Apprentice in Wonderland: How Donald Trump and Mark Burnett Took America Through the Looking Glass," a book by Variety co-editor-in-chief Ramin Setoodeh, Trump described Swift as "very beautiful" but acknowledged their likely political differences.

"I think she's beautiful. Very beautiful! I find her very beautiful. I think she's liberal. She probably doesn't like Trump. I hear she's very talented," he said at the time.

Reports confirm that Trump will become the first sitting president to attend a Super Bowl when he arrives at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans for the championship showdown. According to sources, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem are also expected to join the president at the event.

Kelce previously visited the White House in May 2024, when then-President Joe Biden invited the Chiefs to celebrate their Super Bowl LVIII victory over the San Francisco 49ers.

During that visit, Kelce even had a viral moment when Biden handed him the microphone at a press conference.

"My fellow Americans …," the Super Bowl champ joked before Mahomes jumped in and tried to back him away. "I'm going to be honest, President Biden, they told me I'd get tased if I came up here, so I'm going back to my spot," Kelce added as he stepped away from the mic.

Kelce's welcoming response to Trump attending the NFL's biggest night aligns with his previously neutral stance on politics.

In June 2024, the athlete addressed his thoughts on visiting the White House after winning a Super Bowl during an episode of his "New Heights" podcast, which he co-hosts with his brother, Jason Kelce.

"Anytime I get a chance to be recognized by the President of the United States and get to go with my teammates and a group of men and women that I had success with to the point we get acknowledged … I'm doing it every time no matter who's up there at the helm," Kelce explained at the time.

"No matter what's going on in this world, it's just such a cool opportunity."

The countdown to Super Bowl LIX is on, as the NFL's biggest game of the season is set to take place on February 9, 2025, at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. EST, with the highly anticipated halftime show headlined by Kendrick Lamar.
