Doncic took to his Instagram page hours after news of his trade to the Lakers from the Mavericks made headlines to pen an emotional message to Dallas.
"Dear Dallas," the letter began. "Seven years ago, I came here as a teenager to pursue my dream of playing basketball at the highest level. I thought I'd spend my career here and I wanted so badly to bring you a championship."
Doncic continued, "The love and support you all have given me is more than I could have ever dreamed of. For a young kid from Slovenia coming to the U.S. for the first time, you made North Texas feel like home."
The point guard appreciated Mavericks' fans for supporting him "in good times and bad, from injuries to the NBA Finals."
He also wrote, "Thank you not only for not sharing my joy in our best moments, but also for lifting me up when I need it most."
Luka Doncic Calls Dallas A 'Home Away From Home'
Doncic also thanked every organization he worked with "throughout the Dallas Community" for allowing him to contribute to their "important work" and join them in "bringing light to those who need it."
He reflected on the next phase of his career and his feelings as he departed Dallas. The basketballer wrote, "As I start the next part of my basketball journey, I am leaving a city that will always feel like a home away from home."
Doncic concluded, "Dallas is a special place, and Mavs fans are special fans. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart."

Meanwhile, another fan said they will quit the NBA because of Doncic's trade. They wrote, "I have supported the Dallas Mavericks for 22 years, starting with Nowitzki, [Steve] Nash, and [Michael] Finley. From today I am no longer a fan of this team.
