During a recent appearance on PBS's "Finding Your Roots," Stone was left speechless when she discovered her royal ancestry.

The 66-year-old Oscar-winning actress was overwhelmed when host Henry Louis Gates Jr. revealed the astonishing detail.

"'Charlemagne (the former king who transformed Europe) is your 38th great-grandfather. The first holy Roman Emperor. He was a mean dude," Gates noted, per the Daily Mail.

He went on to describe Charlemagne as "one of the most important people in history, of course, and he basically created modern Europe with an iron will."

In a stunned reaction, Stone exclaimed, "If you want to see someone completely stunned, look at my face."

As Gates continued to unveil her family history, he shared that Stone's lineage is rich with notable figures.

"Sharon's family tree is dripping with history. Her third great-grandfather emigrated to Pennsylvania from England, became a coal miner, then served heroically in the Civil War, fighting in several major battles," he said.

The actress became emotional upon hearing this and was further moved to learn that she also traces her roots to two French kings.

Additionally, her 31st great-grandfather, Hugh Capet, was instrumental in making Paris the heart of political power in France.

Meanwhile, Stone has been vocal about the impact of sexism in Hollywood, emphasizing that it doesn't just affect her career but affects all women in the industry.

"Hollywood is set up to be misogynistic. It's a business run by men. It's a business where men make the money. Where men write, produce, and direct the projects. Where men write the parts that are played by women," Stone told The Hollywood Reporter.

She added, "And those parts are not written about real women. They're written to be the fantasy of how women should be. Then, the male critics tell you if you met the fantasy or not, if you behaved in the right way."

In an interview with People magazine, Stone opened up about her close brush with death in 2001 when she faced a one percent chance of survival due to a ruptured vertebral artery that bled into her brain for nine days.

She said, "I'm grateful that I chose motherhood as a healthy approach to my life and that I didn't prioritize Hollywood, because they certainly didn't prioritize me."

Stone added that she was "grateful" for adopting her sons, Roan, 23; Laird, 18; and Quinn, 17. She described them as wonderful kids and concluded that she appreciates her life choices.
