Blake Lively is not backing down from her claims that Justin Baldoni is trying to tarnish her image amid their legal dispute.
The actress and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, requested that a judge issue a gag order against Baldoni's lawyers for allegedly making false statements about their ongoing legal standoff.
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds have now doubled down on the request, claiming Justin Baldoni's alleged smear campaign is still ongoing.
Blake Lively Says Her Ongoing Legal Tussle 'May Have Profound Consequences'
Lively and Reynolds made another shocking allegation against Baldoni, alleging that he is still waging a "retaliation campaign" against her and that how the case is being treated "may have profound consequences."
According to Deadline, the couple's lawyer made the claims in a letter sent to Judge Lewis J. Liman on Friday evening in which they doubled down on the need for a gag order to be handed to Baldoni's attorneys to prevent "extrajudicial statements."
"Requiring counsel to heed the ethical rules that bind them is not a gag order; it is a mechanism that would ensure the proceedings in this Court are not prejudiced by counsel's conduct outside of the courtroom," attorney Esra Hudson wrote on behalf of the couple.
"The Wayfarer Parties are attempting to draw a dangerous false equivalence that may have profound consequences not just for this case, but for other women who are sexually harassed in the workplace given the high profile of this matter," the letter continued.
The Actress Claims Justin Baldoni's Alleged 'Retaliation Campaign' Has Not Stopped
Lively and Baldoni's legal dispute began in December when reports of their onset differences surfaced as they promoted the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover's novel, "It Ends With Us."
Having filed a 10-page complaint and a follow-up sexual harassment lawsuit against her costar in the film, Baldoni hit back at Lively and her husband with a $400 million counter lawsuit where he alleged she tried to use her celebrity power to hijack his film.
In their new letter requesting a gag order, the couple's attorney alleged that Baldoni may still be conducting a smear campaign against the "Gossip Girl" star.
Hudson wrote, "Even more troubling, however, is that the retaliation campaign that Ms. Lively alleged in her Complaint, with substantial supporting documentation, includes highly destructive behind-the-scenes elements, including the regular engagement of [Baldoni's crisis PR chief] Melissa Nathan with her vast tabloid media sources to influence a steady stream of negative media regarding Ms. Lively, as well as a sophisticated and 'untraceable' digital social media manipulation campaign designed to impact social media algorithms against Ms. Lively."
The lawyer added, "The Lively-Reynolds Parties are informed and believe that these efforts have continued unabated since the CRD Complaint was filed, and may have even been accelerated. The administration of justice in this case will be severely compromised if this behavior continues."
Blake Lively And Ryan Reynolds' Gag Order Request Was A Response To A Released Bombshell Video
Lively and Reynolds asked the judge for a gag order against Baldoni's attorneys, led by Bryan Freedman, for seemingly making false statements about the case.
The couple made the request as they responded to a video released by Baldoni's camp. The clip highlighted the slow dance scene that Lively noted in her lawsuit as the moment Baldoni sexually harassed her and told her that she "smells good."
It has since sparked a debate online, with many arguing that it proves Baldoni's innocence, while others feel it shows that Lively was uncomfortable.
Lively and Reynolds have insisted that the protective order against Freedman would prevent the lawyer from engaging in "improper conduct," including going on an alleged "harassing and retaliatory media campaign" against them.
They claim Freedman is "violating court rules that stop a lawyer from making statements to the press that are irrelevant to a case and might prejudice the jury."
Blake Lively's Lawyers Argue That The Raw Footage Aligns With Her Allegations
Lively's lawyers applauded the video's release in a lengthy statement, insisting it proves the allegations made in the actress's lawsuit.
They told TMZ, "Justin Baldoni and his lawyer may hope that this latest stunt will get ahead of the damaging evidence against him, but the video itself is damning. Every frame of the released footage corroborates, to the letter, what Ms. Lively described in Paragraph 48 of her Complaint."
"The video shows Mr. Baldoni repeatedly leaning in toward Ms. Lively, attempting to kiss her, kissing her forehead, rubbing his face and mouth against her neck, flicking her lip with his thumb, caressing her, telling her how good she smells, and talking with her out of character," the lawyers continued.
Blake Lively And Ryan Reynolds Would Be Subpoenaed To Turn Over Texts & Emails About Justin Baldoni
Meanwhile, it has been revealed that Lively and Reynolds would be "imminently" subpoenaed to produce all conversations about Baldoni and "It Ends With Us."
The subpoena would see them hand over all relevant correspondence, including emails, text messages, and any other forms of communication that may be deemed appropriate to the case.
According to the Daily Mail, a source shared that the couple and their publicist, Leslie Sloane, are also being hit with a deposition, which will see them ordered to provide hours of testimony and be quizzed by Baldoni's lawyers.
"Unequivocally yes, all parties should be aware that they will be subpoenaed and deposed imminently," the insider told the news outlet.
