The 29-year-old star announced the book on Friday, January 24, sharing its roots in his childhood journals.

“The book is inspired by the many journals I kept as a kid, where I wrote about a lot of things that I never shared with anybody else,” Gage revealed exclusively to Us Weekly. “In this book, I start talking about it, and you can see why sometimes it felt safer not to.”

According to the memoir’s description, Gage decided to write the book after experiencing “one of the sh-tiest weeks of his life.” During that time, Gage’s beloved grandmother was nearing the end of her life, and he found himself sitting beside his mostly absent father.

He loved attention,” the synopsis teases, recounting stories of his past, including setting his room on fire as a child, flirting with women at Hooters, and his infamous NSFW scene in "The White Lotus" season 1. “Lukas was scared of attention, and yet he craved it more than anything in the world.”

Gage’s upcoming memoir, "I Wrote This for Attention," is already making waves in the entertainment world, with glowing endorsements from some of his high-profile friends and collaborators.

“This book is raw, provocative, chaotic, and — dare I say — sl-tty. Wait, sorry, that was me describing Lukas Gage,” quipped "It Ends with Us" author Colleen Hoover. “The book, though, is every bit of that and more. A must-read for anyone who’s a fan of Lukas (or even if you can’t stand him). Or, if you’ve never heard of him — which, honestly, is most of you — just read it anyway.”

The "White Lotus" creator Mike White also offered a tongue-in-cheek take on Gage’s debut memoir. “For a self-proclaimed pathological liar, Lukas Gage is brutally honest. And for an exhibitionistic chaos agent with a borderline personality disorder, he is entirely relatable. This insightful memoir will earn your attention with its humor and its heartbreak.”

Actress Riley Keough praised the book’s blend of charm and unpredictability. “It’s as unhinged and heartwarming as Lukas is,” she wrote, while comedy legend Molly Shannon highlighted the emotional impact of Gage’s storytelling. “Few books have the power to move me to both laughter and tears, but this one did,” Shannon shared.

The memoir will officially hit bookshelves on Tuesday, October 14.
