Some fans have slammed Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag for suing the city of Los Angeles after losing their expensive home in the fire.
On Tuesday, the couple joined several Pacific Palisades property owners who filed lawsuits against Los Angeles after losing their homes during the wildfires.
Pratt and Montag have been open about losing their home in the fire and received much support from fans on social media.
Spencer Pratt And Heidi Montag Sue The City Of Los Angeles
The celebrity couple filed a lawsuit at the Los Angeles Superior Court, accusing the city's Department of Water and Power (LADWP) of not maintaining an adequate water supply system to fight the inferno.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Pratt and Montag noted that the city of LA delayed repairing the Santa Ynez Reservoir, which caused it to be empty for almost a year.
About 20 other property owners joined the couple in their lawsuit, which faulted the LADWP for emptying the Santa Ynez Reservoir before the fire outbreak on January 7.
They claimed the LADWP did so to seek contractor bids rather than repair the reservoir with in-house personnel.
The complaint stated, "This stated public purpose was far outweighed by the substantial risk posed to Pacific Palisades by wildfires."
It added, "The degree of damage that resulted from the Palisades Fire far outweighed any benefit that could have been realized by outsourcing and delaying repairs."

A Redditor shared news of Pratt and Montag's lawsuit on the pop-culture sub-Reddit, and many others took turns commenting on the couple's actions.
One Redditor wondered why the couple was suing after "poorer people" donated to them after they lost their home.
They wrote, "They're suing after poorer people than them donated to them to help them rebuild??"
Another Redditor said the couple didn't deserve sympathy, writing, "Just a reminded that both of these people were huge pieces of sh-t before and continue to be still. They do not deserve an ounce of sympathy."

Fans Support Spencer Pratt And Heidi Montag's Lawsuits
Although many fans were critical of Pratt and Montag's lawsuit, they got support from others.
When one person called out the couple, writing, "Let's sue them for being douchebags," another responded, "They're attempting to hold politicians and government officials responsible for negligence. This is actually a step in the right direction regardless of their reality tv days."
They added, "This lawsuit could mean something to everyone who owns a home in Los Angeles. The oligarchy will shoot it down of course but they absolutely have the right idea to start highlighting negligence as a crime rather than political broken promises. I didn't watch their show but I like their lawsuit."
Another Redditor called for all residents of Los Angeles to sue the US government. They wrote, "Honestly, everyone resident of CA should sue the US government for it."
Pratt And Montag Lose Home To Wildfires
The couple was among those who lost properties to the Los Angeles wildfires.
Montag looked distraught in a video she shared on TikTok after the fire burned their home. In the clip, she expressed gratitude that her family was safe despite their home loss.
Montag said, "While we ended up losing our house in the fire, thank God we are safe."
As the video continued, the mother of two couldn't hold her emotions but thanked well-wishers for their concern.
She said, "So, thank you to everyone who is checking, thank you for all your prayers, thank you for your thoughts."
Fans Set Up GoFundMe For Pratt And Montag
After Pratt and Montag revealed that their home was burned to the ground in the wildfires, fans set up a GoFundMe for them to help them rebuild.
However, the couple received backlash for sourcing funds from fans, though they weren't bothered by it.
Pratt told Us Weekly, "If people want to send their own money to whoever they want, it's the equivalent to buying a celebrity's merch, buying their movie tickets. People can do whatever they want with their own money and, thank God, there's people who want to support and send us whatever."
Meanwhile, Montag emphasized that neither she nor Pratt solicited funds from fans.
She explained, "Then our friends Brandon and Courtney [from TikTok] were like, 'We don't care what you say. We know people who want to donate money to you and even if it's one donation that’s going to help you.'"
Pratt added, "When this first happened, that first day, they created a GoFundMe on their own and it just kept on doing great and so amazing."
