In his Netflix special, "Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was...," Foxx credited Anelise with helping to save his life by playing her guitar at his bedside. The then-14-year-old is credited for regulating his vital signs as Foxx was unconscious following a stroke.
"My vitals are so bad, they're going to lose me," said Foxx in his Netflix special. "That's when a miracle happened, and that miracle was working through my youngest daughter."
"She's 14 – I didn't want her to see me like that," he continued. "But she snuck into my hospital room with my guitar. 'I know what my daddy needs.'"
"When she was playing, my vitals… went down… it was God in that guitar," he added. "Spiritual defibrillator."

Foxx suffered from a brain bleed on April 11, 2023, that led to a stroke. He was in a coma for 20 days and had to learn how to walk again. The comedian shared the details of his illness in his special, "Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was..."
"They held me the f-ck down," he said in his special. "Nobody sees him. They cut it all off. They didn’t want you to see me like that and I didn’t want you to see me like that. I wanted you to see my like this."
Foxx shared a picture of his daughters attending the Golden Globes with him on Instagram on Jan. 6.
"Me with my two beautiful daughters globetrotting at the @goldenglobes … a proud father daughter moment Anelise Estelle and @corinnefoxx so beautiful and fearless," he wrote. "When I was asked on the carpet, what do you think about the awards? I said I have already won to be here with my two girls. Standing upright. Standing with so much love. It’s not my award. It’s my reward. God is good and I think you know the rest. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾."

As previously reported byThe Blast, Diaz said in a recent interview that Foxx was "the only person" who could get her to return to acting. Diaz is raising two children with her husband, musician Benji Madden.
"I thought that if I was going to come back and do a movie, the only person I'd come back and do it with would be this guy," she said. "Seriously. I had other opportunities along the way and I was always saying, 'No. I'm not doing it, I've told you… What? Jamie asked? Jamie? Oh, I can do a movie with Jamie!'"
