Jhené Aiko Clarifies Wrong Impression About Her

After Aiko shared the update about her home loss, social media blog The Shade Room reposted her Instagram Stories post.

Many fans commiserated with the singer, but some people noted that Aiko is as rich as Paris Hilton, who also lost her Malibu home in the massive fires and can easily buy another house.

Aiko caught wind of the comments lacking empathy and shared her thoughts in the comments section.

"The fact that some of you think I have Paris Hilton money is wild," she began. "I don't got it like that, but I do have a big, loving family that is worth more than anything."

The "Living Room Flow" crooner recalled when her family home burned down when she was seven years old, revealing how they helped each other through the difficult period.

She wrote, "When I was in the 2nd grade, our home burned down with everything in it. I never understood why some of the kids at school were so mean about it, because they thought we were rich when we weren't. But they thought we were rich because we had love!!"

Aiko added, "My family and our friends came together and made sure my mom and me and my siblings had at least 1 new sweat suit and 1 pair of shoes the very next day."

She concluded, "I am fortunate enough to be in a better situation than back then. And I pray I can have as much grace as my mother did during that time. I work very hard for my family. I pray that you all stay safe. God bless."
