Markle shared a video on Instagram honoring Guy.
The video featured the Duchess and Prince Harry lovingly cuddling with Guy in several shots. Guy was also shown in several solo shots as he frolicked on the beach and went for car rides with the family.
The 43-year-old former "Suits" actress adopted Guy before she met Prince Harry and was living in Toronto. She decided to adopt Guy after attending an adoption event for A Dog’s Dream Rescue in Ontario. Markle quickly bonded with Guy after taking him for a walk.
"In Memory of Guy," she wrote. "In 2015, I adopted a beagle from a dog rescue in Canada. He had been at a kill shelter in Kentucky and given a few days to live. I swooped him up….and fell in love."
Meghan Markle Reveals How Guy Got His Name
Markle revealed how her Guy got his name in the caption for the video tribute.
At the dog rescue, the pup was reportedly called "the little guy" because of his size, so Markle just named him "Guy."
"They referred to him as ‘the little guy’ because he was so small and frail, so I named him ‘Guy’. And he was the best guy any girl could have asked for," she wrote.
Meghan Markle Had Guy Before Marrying Prince Harry
Markle had Guy before she married Prince Harry, a fact she noted in her tribute. The duchess wrote that Guy was with her when she starred in "Suits," when she married Prince Harry and when she became a mother.
"He was with me at Suits, when I got engaged, (and then married), when I became a mom," she shared. "He was with me for everything: the quiet, the chaos, the calm, the comfort."
"I have cried too many tears to count," she continued. "The type of tears that make you get in the shower with the absurd hope that the running water on your face will somehow make you not feel them, or pretend they’re not there. But they are. And that’s okay too... Thank you for so many years of unconditional love, my sweet Guy. You filled my life in ways you’ll never know ❤️🩹."
She ended the post with the hashtag #adoptdontshop.

Guy was rescued from a kill shelter in Kentucky before he was sent to Canada for adoption.
Markle also revealed that Guy endured a terrible accident just before she moved to the UK that left him unable to walk. She credited a veterinarian in Surrey for helping Guy recover and noted her late-night visits to the pet clinic.
"He endured a terrible accident shortly before I moved to the UK which had him undergoing surgeries for several months and unable to leave the clinic," she wrote. "Doctors said he would never walk again, but Dr Noel Fitzpatrick said he could do it. H and I would drive late at night, after hours, to see Guy as he recovered in Surrey for months on end."
"I will always be grateful to Noel and his team, the team at Queen West Animal Hospital in TO, our vets now, and my friends and community: Thank you for loving him so," she added.
