Macaulay Culkin and Brenda Song’s relationship is filled with sweet milestones, but one of the most amusing moments came courtesy of a surprising first.
The couple, who first met on the set of "Changeland," began sparking romance rumors in 2017 after being spotted on a double date at Knott’s Berry Farm in California.
Since then, Macaulay Culkin and Brenda Song kept much of their relationship private, but every now and then, they offer fans a peek into their world.
Macaulay Culkin Has Never Been To...
In a recent interview with Bustle on January 7, Song opened up about how Costco became an unexpected setting for a heartwarming memory with Culkin.
“I had just dropped off my son at preschool and was with Mack. We were sitting at Costco, and it hadn’t opened yet,” Song recalled. “Mack was sitting there going, ‘Babe’ — he had never been to a Costco before we started dating — ‘We’re sitting in a Costco. I’m wearing Crocs. Costco’s not even open yet. You’ve tamed the beast, honey.’”
The moment was both hilarious and tender, capturing the down-to-earth dynamic between the two stars. Song added with a laugh, “And I was like, ‘How dare you, sir!’”
Their Costco outing took an unexpected turn when Song received a career-changing phone call. “My agent calls me and says, ‘Hey, I have this really great script for you. Do you have a second? What are you doing?’ And I was like, ‘Oh, I’m sitting in the parking lot at Costco before it opens.’ She goes, ‘I need to get you a job.’”
Brenda Song Starts A Family
The couple welcomed their first son, Dakota, in April 2021, followed by their second son, Carson, in December 2022. In January 2022, their engagement was confirmed after Song was spotted wearing an engagement ring in Beverly Hills. “They are and always have been very in love with each other,” a source told Us Weekly at the time.
In December 2023, Culkin received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, where he gave a heartfelt shout-out to Song during his acceptance speech. “Lastly, but not least, I’d like to thank Brenda. You’re absolutely everything. You’re my champion,” Culkin said. “You’re the only person happier for me today than I am. You’re not only the best woman I’ve known, you’re the best person I’ve ever known.”
Recalling that "special" moment, Song said, "We couldn’t have [the kids] miss that."
"Dak was so scared of all the cameras," she said. "That’s one of the reasons why we sort of keep them away [from the spotlight]. They did not understand what was happening.”
Brenda Song Opens Up About Her Time On Disney Channel
Starting at age 16, Song spent six years portraying the lovable and hilariously clueless socialite London Tipton on "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody" and its sequel, "The Suite Life on Deck" — a role where the dialogue was, naturally, G-rated.
“Coming from a Disney Channel background, I think people are almost scared. It feels weird to see you that way," she told Bustle. “But I’ll be honest. I think in LA, ‘f-ck’ is a verb. It’s a noun. It is an adjective. It’s natural in my language. Since having children, I’ve had to really watch myself. People like to say that Valley Girls say ‘like.’ I think we say ‘f-ck’ as much as ‘like.’”
Navigating Parenthood And Hollywood
A few years ago, Song revealed that she and Culkin have been navigating parenthood without a nanny, but she's grateful for her strong support system, which helps her juggle parenting and her acting career.
"My fiancé and I are very hands-on," she mentioned to The Cut of parenting. "We don't have a nanny, but my mom has been here with us since my son was born. He's 9 months old now."
She added, "I think when you and your partner have kids, especially the first few months, you don't have the patience to be polite with each other. Being communicative when you need help is so important. Instead of having set duties, we just feel each other out. I'll be putting my son down, and my partner is like, 'Let me feed the animals and get dinner ready.'"
Brenda Song Recalls Being Pregnant Twice In The Same Calendar Year

When speaking to Bustle, the former Disney star recalled what it was like to start a family with the "Home Alone" star.
“I had two pregnancies in the same calendar year. It was a lot,” she said. “Once I stepped into motherhood, it made me question a lot: my place in this industry, my place as a woman, ageism in this industry, society’s pressures of what beauty is, what being young is. Things that I’d never questioned before."
She added, "And also, my priority is my children, so I can’t just uproot my life and go live in Bulgaria for nine months to shoot a movie. I was like, ‘Does acting still fit in my life?’”
