Joey King is fighting back against Parviz Mohammady, who filed a car crash lawsuit against her in 2022.
The actress is arguing that her accuser's alleged injuries during the collision may be linked to his previous accidents. King and her accuser are reportedly at an impasse on the collisions being admitted as evidence ahead of their trial.
Joey King and Parviz Mohammady are due to face off in trial over the February 2020 car crash case in February 2024.
Joey King Claims Studying Her Accuser's Other Crashes May Prove Her Innocence
The Netflix star has called Mohammady's previous accidents to be referenced in the ongoing case. According to her attorney, Mohammady has put his physical condition at issue by claiming significant orthopedic injuries.
Mohammady's surgeries after the accident also include a total shoulder replacement surgery. Her lawyer argued that King should be allowed to rebut Mohammady's injury claims. The team opined that Mohammady's injuries may also be related to a prior accident.
The plaintiff's past injuries may help "explain the severity or longevity of his medical issues." In his lawsuit against King, Mohammady claimed he suffered injuries to his "body and nervous system."
He claimed to have spent so much money on medical services and expensive MRI scans. Mohammady's lawyer argued that the injuries and health damage may have reduced his life expectancy. In his initial lawsuit, he claimed that King "suddenly … merged into his lane and collided with" his car.
Mohammady's lawyer explained that he sustained damages to his vehicle and his body because of the collision. Per In Touch, Mohammady's lawyer added that King so negligently operated her motor vehicle and caused it to strike Mohammady.

Despite the claims of damaging injuries made by Parviz, King insisted the accident was self-inflicted. Her lawyer argued that Mohammady negligently operated, maintained, controlled, and drove a vehicle referenced in the complaint.
King's legal team continued that the plaintiff did not exercise reasonable care for his safety and well-being. They claimed that he proximately contributed "to the happening of the accident and to the injuries and damages alleged."
Her attorney continued, "by reason of the foregoing, any recovery on the complaint should be regarded as negligence. The client and his team urged the court to dismiss the entire suit and award Mohammady nothing.

On the financial side, Mohammady implored the court to order an award of $500,000 in an arbitration conducted according to an agreement between the parties.
In a report by The Blast, Arbitration is a contract-based form of binding dispute resolution, which the accuser claimed he and King agreed to shortly after the accident on June 30, 2020.
Their case was reportedly monitored by arbitrator Sibyl Lipinski, who found Mohammady 20% liable for the accident on February 13, 2020. Meanwhile, King had to bear the brunt of the car crash, with Lipinski finding her 80% liable for the incident.
"Based on the evidence provided, the Applicant driver was the proximate cause of the loss for failing to maintain proper lookout and improper turn," the arbitrator noted regarding the actress's actions.
As for Mohammady's 20% liability in the incident, Lipinski explained that he played a role in the collision by "failing to maintain proper lookout." Since most of the blame fell on King, the arbitrator ordered her to pay up $500,000 in compensation.

Mohammady also explained in the documents that King lost the arbitration case fairly and should pay the resulting fine. He implored the court to confirm the $500,000 award and enter judgment according to it in the ongoing case.
He also wants King to settle the accumulated interests from June 30, 2020, at the standard statutory rate and pay for his lawsuit according to proof. Mohammady argued his case in a separate filing, sharing a statement about his painful experience during the collision.
"This case arises from a motor vehicle crash which took place on February 13, 2020, in Sherman Oaks, California. Defendant Joey Lynn King was making a left turn from the parking lane and crashed into Plaintiff Parviz Mohammady, who was traveling in his lane," the statement claimed.
The plaintiff added, "Defendant lost at subrogation arbitration for liability for failing to maintain a proper lookout and an improper turn while driving." Mohammady concluded that King already "admits liability but contends the extent of the injuries sustained by Plaintiff."
