Jennifer Lopez has opened up about overcoming "hardships" amid her divorce from estranged husband Ben Affleck.
The singer explained that she thinks about hardships as not "happening to" her but "happening for" her and is always on the lookout for the lessons they come with.
Meanwhile, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck's divorce is reportedly getting messy behind the scenes as they're yet to agree on how best to manage their assets and finances without a prenup.
Jennifer Lopez Speaks About Overcoming 'Hardships'
Lopez has weighed in on her go-to formula for overcoming "hardships" as she goes through another divorce.
The "Hustlers" actress has experienced her fair share of trials this year, including navigating a broken marriage and canceling a scheduled tour.
Lopez has now disclosed that she overcomes challenges by ensuring her perspective is correct.
"I think the way I overcome things is not by thinking of them as happening to me but happening for me and what is the lesson that needs to be learned in the moment," Lopez told British Vogue in a recent interview. "When I think of things that way and stay in a kind of a more positive mindset about it, it's easier to kind of embrace it for the lesson that it is."
"Because that's really what our hardships are in life," she continued. "What am I supposed to learn here?"
Lopez further added that "there are no coincidences," as things don't happen "just randomly" but for "a reason."
She noted that she always asked herself, "What can I learn, and how can I come out the other side better, stronger, more knowledgeable, and kind of evolve and grow from this point?"
Jennifer Lopez Has Learned Her Lessons
The 55-year-old multi-versatile entertainer recently spoke about how she's grown from her split from the "Argo" actor and the lessons it has taught her.
"I think to myself … 'Thank you, god. I'm sorry it took me so long. I'm sorry that you had to do this to me so many times. I should have learned it two or three times ago. I get it,'" she reminisced while chatting with Interview magazine.
Speaking of the lessons her martial woes have taught her, she said she has learned that she is "capable of joy and happiness" alone.
True to her words, Lopez doesn't let anyone get in the way of her happiness, and she proved that recently when an interviewer made a joke about her age.
The Former's Couple's Divorce Has Stalled
Meanwhile, Lopez and Affleck's divorce is still dragging on and is yet to be finalized. The exes were rocked with rumors of a martial discord earlier this year when they went more than a month without being pictured together publicly.
Lopez then proceeded to file for divorce without a lawyer at the Los Angeles Superior Court, where she listed their initial date of separation as April 26.
She also rejected any form of support and asked the judge to deny the "Gone Girl" actor spousal support, but they have not made headway in their divorce.
A source told In Touch Weekly that the duo are still struggling to reach an agreement months after Lopez filed to end their marriage.
"It's been six months since she filed and nothing has been resolved, it doesn't seem like they're anywhere close to finalizing the divorce," the source stated. "They both said they wanted to do it amicably and have even talked a good game about wanting to consciously uncouple, but that plan seems to be out the window because they can't agree on how to divide things up, which of course is affecting things."
Jennifer Lopez And Ben Affleck Plan To Stay Cordial
Despite their differences, Lopez and Affleck have chosen to remain cordial in their relationship with each other.
According to Page Six, a source said that the estranged couple plans to stay "connected" post-divorce and would look out for their blended family.
"They have every intention of continuing to be in each other's lives despite not being romantically involved," the insider shared. "Ben and Jennifer are still connected and they do communicate when it involves their kids."
The Singer Is Looking Forward To The New Year For A 'Fresh' Start
Although Lopez and Affleck are still in the process of mediating their divorce, sources have claimed that the singer is doing well for herself despite the end of her marriage.
Not only is she in the right mind space, but the singer is also keen on turning the page on the past ahead of the new year and is "focused on her own life."
"She has had a rough year but is doing well," an insider said about the mother of two, per People Magazine. "She's ready for Christmas and to start the new year fresh."
