Amanda Seyfried has embraced what she calls the role of a lifetime: being a mom to her two children, Nina and Thomas.

The "Mamma Mia!" star shares her family with husband Thomas Sadoski, whom she met in 2015 while performing together in the off-Broadway play "The Way We Get By." The couple welcomed their daughter, Nina, in 2017, marking Seyfried’s debut into motherhood, followed by the birth of their son, Thomas.

Now, Amanda Seyfried is opening up about the joys and challenges of balancing her career with life as a mom.

Seyfried recently spoke with PEOPLE Magazine at the Make It Cute x Babylist Holiday Event in Beverly Hills, California. The actress took some time to open up about the challenges of finding time for herself amidst her numerous responsibilities.

"When [the kids] are at school actually. I always kind of get something out of all the time that I have," she admitted. "Like when I'm feeding, I'm listening to a book on tape," she explains, referencing the many animals she feeds on her farm. "So it feels like it's selfish time, but really I'm feeding, so it's still busy, it's work."

The actress added, "But in the morning, when they wake up, I'll sit and crochet while they eat their breakfast, watch 'Bluey,' whatever they end up doing before school," the actress says of her kids. "But when they're at school, yes, I have time."

Amanda Seyfried cherishes the little moments of solitude she can carve out in her busy life, whether it’s through crocheting, working out, or catching up with friends.

"I sit and I crochet, or I go to the gym in the barn, or I go out to coffee with a fellow parent or a friend upstate," she told the magazine. "I get a lot of alone time on a train when I go to the city. If I have to go to the city, I take the train. And I get like an hour and 40 minutes of alone time each way. And I'm always crocheting. Knitting, crocheting, that's my lifestyle."

The "Mean Girls" actress acknowledged that balancing a demanding career with raising two children can sometimes feel "chaotic," but she expresses gratitude for the support she receives from those around her, particularly her mother.

"I have a full-time career and two kids," she previously told PEOPLE. "It's a lot of work, but I love it. My family is very supportive of it ... For sure it sounds like it's chaotic, and it is in some ways, but I've also found so much peace in where I live. Plus, my mom lives with me which helps."

Earlier this month, Amanda Seyfried gave fans a glimpse of her children’s quirky sense of style by sharing a photo on her Instagram Stories showcasing their unique slippers. Her daughter Nina sported a pair of dog slippers that bore an uncanny resemblance to their family dog, Finn.

Meanwhile, her son Thomas made a bold statement with NSFW slippers shaped like two boobs. The playful photo, which showed the siblings standing side by side, was cropped just above their chests to focus on their eye-catching footwear.

Amanda Seyfried and Thomas Sadoski welcomed their daughter, Nina, on March 24, 2017. Her birth came shortly after the couple eloped, with Seyfried nine months pregnant at the time. She later revealed during an appearance on Dr. Berlin’s "Informed Pregnancy Podcast" that her pregnancy with daughter Nina was unexpected.

The actress later revealed that she was in labor for 24 hours, but her daughter’s arrival made every moment worthwhile. “It was just perfect,” she recalled. “It was quiet and beautiful, and it was the best moment of my life for sure. And I would do it again in a heartbeat.”

Following Nina’s birth, Amanda Seyfried and her family relocated from California to a farm in New York’s picturesque Catskill Mountains. "It was very conscious," she said during an interview on ​​"Sunday TODAY" with host Willie Geist. "I've always wanted to live on a farm. I just need to feel grounded somewhere that I can trust will always be there."
