Common is standing ten toes down behind his plans to seal the forever deal with Jennifer Hudson.
The rapper showered praises on his beau during a media appearance and seemingly reiterated his intentions to make her his lifelong partner till the wheels fall off.
Common and Jennifer Hudson have been romantically linked since 2022 and have kept a relatively low profile about their romance since subtly confirming it in January.
Common Is Eagerly Looking Forward To The Future With Jennifer Hudson
The 52-year-old rapper could not stop gushing about his beau in his interview with TODAY on Tuesday, December 10. He called her "an amazing human being" as the conversation took an interesting turn when Al Roker, 70, teased him about the possibility of wedding bells in their future.
Roker referred to a previous statement Common made during his appearance on Hudson's talk show earlier in the year. Well, Common did not shy away from the truth. The rapper boldly declared:
"I didn't feel like that was the hot seat. I was just being true to who I was. It was the cool seat because it was really just, man, I was telling my truth, and that truth still is there."
The rapper added that he enjoyed watching her do her thing on her talk show. In his words: "In life, for me, I look for people in my life who are uplifting, who believe in a higher power, who treat other people well." He also loves that his partner maintains a busy schedule, as he noted: "That's good for me too."
The Rapper Previously Confirmed His Future Plans To The Vocalist's Face
Common, who previously dated Tiffany Hadish, made his latest comments after he spoke about the couple's "really healthy and beautiful relationship" during a July interview with The Breakfast Club.
According to PEOPLE, the activist proudly declared to the hosts, "If I'm going to get married, it's to her." The father-of-one then took his convictions with him to his appearance on Hudson's show in October. He was also there to promote his recent album with Pete Rock, The Auditorium Vol. 1.
Hudson, fully aware of his comments, jokingly confronted him and asked: "I heard you've been even out there talking about marriage," the EGOT holder said. "What's that about? I just happened to notice that."
The actor responded to the question and reminded his partner of a famous quote she claimed her mother told her: "A man knows what he wants.'I was saying my true feelings about, listen, Jennifer is the person." He added, "If I should be married, it will be to Jennifer Kate Hudson. I was just being honest."
The 'Work It Out' Singer Admired Her Partner's Passionate Activism
Since confirming their relationship on Hudson's talk show nearly a year after sparking dating rumors, the lovebirds have not stopped gushing about each other.
The "American Idol" alum raved about Common's activism, which involves promoting criminal justice reform, supporting underprivileged youths, mental health advocacy, and animal rights protection.
Hudson disclosed activism is "definitely" something she and the rapper have a shared love for as she discussed how committed he is.
"He's very passionate about everything he's into," she said of Common, adding, "He leads with the heart, and I lead with the heart in everything that I do, as well."
The rapper launched Imagine Justice, a nonprofit that aims to end the criminalization of poverty. He also established the Rebirth of Sound program at Stateville to help rehabilitate incarcerated people by teaching them the basics of music production.
Common is also the founder of the Common Ground Foundation, a non-profit body in Chicago that seeks to empower underprivileged youth to become citizens and strong leaders in the world.
He won an Academy Award for his song "Glory," featured in the historical drama "Selma" about the voting marches led by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in the 1960s.
How Did The Lovebirds Confirm Their Sizzling Romance?
The rapper appeared on the show in January bearing a large bouquet of flowers for Hudson, a gesture that hinted at something more than just a platoniclink-up. As reported by The Blast, Hudson got down to business and wittingly asked if the actor was involved with anyone romantically.
"Now, we got to get down to business, Mr. Common. I'm a host and so I have to ask you this question cuz everybody always wants to know this — are you dating anyone?" quizzed the EGOT winner.
"The Suicide Squad" star also got creative with the interaction and giggled before confirming that he had a romantic partner.
Although he did not name the mystery lady, the rapper described her as "one of the most beautiful people I ever met in life. And she's smart, she loves God, she has something real down-to-earth about her, she's talented."
The father-of-one even bragged about his high standards, joking that he landed an EGOT winner as a partner—a title Hudson achieved in 2022 with her Tony Award for producing "A Strange Loop."
Common then took the baton and quizzed Hudson about her love life. The singer gleefully expressed that she was "very happy" in her relationship.
Jennifer Hudson Celebrated 1st Anniversary Of Her EGOT Win
Hudson also blows her horns where and when it matters. She celebrated the one-year milestone of her extraordinary EGOT status on her Instagram last June.
The TV personality star took to Instagram to mark the anniversary of her 17th position in the exclusive EGOT club with a stunning Boomerang.
The clip featured Hudson flaunting a chic pixie cut hairstyle and flawless makeup, sporting a custom-made purple cropped top with her nickname "J.Hud."
She posed for the gram with her left thumb tucked in her jean pocket and her right hand delicately placed above her bosom. The star accompanied the post with an exciting caption:
"A year ago today, I became the 17th EGOT!! There are no limits to what God can do! Its a year later and I'm still 17."
Common and Jennifer Hudson are out here being the ultimate couple goals!
