In an emotional exchange of goodbyes, as she moved into her Utah home, the 55-year-old disclosed his burning desire to walk his former wife down the aisle at her next wedding.

Kody blurted this amid tears as he shared a big hug with Meri after he and his brother Nathan were done packing her stuff in. "Meri's just on point today. She's just the wonderful woman that I would have liked to have been married to," Kody gushed about his ex-wife.

His estranged wife also gave his controversial statement a soft landing as she admitted to having fond feelings for Kody. Per In Touch, Meri declared herself and Kody the "best-divorced couple ever." The patriarch confirmed his split from Meri in January 2023 after 23 years together.

Meri may have known Kody the longest, but it did not stop her confusion from brewing amid Kody's statement. In the show's confessional, Meri said:

"The fact that he's saying he wants to walk me down the aisle when I get married again, I'm like, like, 'Why would he say that?' Is he serious? Is he trying to make a joke? I can't tell. I don't know what's going on."

Meri explained her confusion by stating that he was visibly in tears, noting that their relationship "didn't have to be this way."

For Kody, his split from Meri was the "final nail in the coffin" of his hopes to lead a polygamist family. He confirmed that he and Meri had "permission to move on" as she moved away from him and his last remaining wife, Robyn Brown.

Kody has been strangely emotional throughout Meri's move and in a preview of their November 24th episode, the patriarch was seen fighting tears. As reported by The Blast, Kody held his former lover in a tight hug and declared:

"OK, alright. Meri, it's the end of an era. It was a great run, but I'm not gonna let it get me down."

The mom-of-one could not wrap her head around her ex-husband being an emotional wreck amid her moving. Kody quickly clarified that his emotional reaction was not because his life was falling apart but only a tribute to their memories because their time together meant something to him.

Meri could not agree more to the fact that she and Kody "had something really good." He also made a quick trip down memory lane and how their marriage ended.

Meri Bagged The Coveted Title Of The TV Star's Favorite Ex-Wife

The exchange continued with Kody admitting that they "had something special." While they do not exist as a couple anymore, he shared that there is no bitterness or anger left within him.

He also mentioned his satisfaction on how they settled their differences and have become friends, although he still nurses the wounds from his multiple splits.

"I'm glad you're my favorite ex-wife. But it's the weirdest thing to be in that place. It's just heartbreaking in a way. I love the life I have, but it's a very different life than what I had three years ago, you know? It just seemed like everybody else just went, 'This isn't important,'" he said.

He noted that he is at peace with her decision to move on, adding, "I hope this is a goodwill gesture that'll keep us in a good place with each other."

Meri was torn between feeling relief that the big move from Arizona to Utah happened on the auspicious day of her marriage anniversary or feeling confused at Kody's wave of emotions. "I don't understand Kody," she said. "He's done everything in his power to push me away for the past decade."

The TV personality continued saying, "And now I'm moving, and he's like, 'Why are you doing it so early?' Why do you care? Isn't this what you wanted?"

In true fashion, the patriarch noted that while he is emotional, he still had reservations about Meri's move, especially concerning her wellbeing.

Kody then declared that he ultimately chose to remain silent as it was not safe to tell Meri what was going on in his heart anymore. "It's almost like it's God, the universe, whatever, [is] like, 'You have done your time," Meri said about her relocation.

Meri Brown Described Kody Brown's Grand Gesture Of Helping Her Move As Compensation

Her estranged husband's sweet gesture did not sway Meri as she reminded him it was payback for not requesting alimony during their split. The star had wanted to move before her lease expired in June, so she turned to him for help with the heavy lifting.

"My lease is up at the end of June. I just want to get it done before that. Anyway, I was just wondering if you'd be willing to help me load some stuff," she began.

As soon as Kody agreed to help, Meri responded, "Call it my severance package." She then explained the joke and referenced her decision not to request alimony when they legally divorced in 2014.

"I put 30 years into this. Like, help me move and get out of here. Then we'll just be good to go. We'll call it even, I guess," she said. A confused Kody replied to his ex-wife's statement, saying, "I don't know if this is passive-aggressive or if it's just aggressive or if it's a joke. I haven't known my whole marriage."

Will Meri Brown grant Kody Brown's golden wish when Cupid hits again? Time will tell.
