Liam Payne's girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, has been left "devastated" after viewing disturbing CCTV footage of the singer being carried through a hotel lobby.
In the footage, Payne appeared to be heavily under the influence as three men carried him along. Cassidy reportedly thinks the whole incident could have been averted, questioning why the late singer was carried back to his hotel room in that state.
Before his death, Kate Cassidy reportedly issued Liam Payne a "tough love" ultimatum to quit his drug use.
Kate Cassidy Is Heartbroken Over CCTV Footage Of Liam Payne
Late Payne's girlfriend is reportedly heartbroken with the seemingly preventable way he died after footage of his final moments surfaced.
"He could have been saved, he could have been helped," Cassidy's friend told the New York Post. "It's devastating — and infuriating."
"Whenever it seems it can't get more painful for Kate, it gets even more painful," the pal added.
The Daily Mail recently released CCTV recordings of Payne being carried through the lobby of CasaSur Palermo Hotel, where he was staying in Argentina.
The timestamp on the clip showed that the video was recorded moments before his tragic death on October 16.
In the clip, three men, who appeared to be hotel employees, were shown carrying Payne as hotel guests walked by.
They seemed to have brought him to his third-floor room at about 4:54 pm local time, as another CCTV camera captured the singer and the three men outside his room at that time.
The Hotel Staff Called For Help On The Day Of The Singer's Death
Days after Payne's death, a recording of the conversation between the hotel manager and 911 emergency services surfaced.
"We have a guest who is [allegedly] high and drunk; and when he is conscious, he is destroying his room and we need you to send someone, please. We need you to send someone urgently because I don't know if his life is in danger," a man, identified as Esteban, told the dispatcher, per Page Six.
"He is in a room that has a balcony and we are scared he might be endangering his life," Esteban added.
He was asked whether he'd also need the police, but he declined, requesting only SAME, Argentina's medical emergency services.
By the time the ambulance arrived, Payne had already fallen from his hotel balcony "in a state of semi or total unconsciousness."
Kate Cassidy Gave Liam Payne An Ultimatum Over His Drug Use
Payne's drug use was an issue in his relationship with Cassidy as the influencer did all she could to make him stop, including putting their relationship on the line.
According to the New York Post, one of Cassidy's friends disclosed details of the couple's last days together, saying she gave the former One Direction heartthrob an "ultimatum" to overcome his struggles with substance abuse or risk losing their relationship altogether.
"His drug use was causing a lot of drama," the source explained. "So she gave him an ultimatum: her or the drugs. He chose the drugs, so she had no choice but to remove herself from the situation."
They continued, "She thought she was doing tough love. She didn't know that it would end the way it did."
Kate Cassidy's Stay In Argentina Was More Of A 'Hostage Situation'
The then-couple had traveled to Buenos Aires to support Payne's former bandmate Niall Horan, who had a show there on October 2 and was supposed to stay for 4 days.
However, they ended up spending about two weeks before Cassidy finally decided to go back home two days before he died.
According to the New York Post, sources close to Cassidy said she claims their stay in Argentina was more of a "hostage situation" as he kept extending their vacation.
"She had to go," the insider shared. "It was becoming very unhealthy for everyone. She hoped he would follow her back to Miami."
Meanwhile, three persons have been arrested in connection with Payne's death, including a "friend" of the "Both Ways" singer, a hotel housekeeper staff, and an alleged drug dealer identified as Brian Nahuel Paiz, who reportedly delivered drugs to him twice on October 14.
Liam Payne's Girlfriend Does Not Believe The Drug Dealer Is Being Truthful
During a live interview on a local TV station, Paiz denied supplying Payne with drugs, although he admitted that they met on more than one occasion.
However, the source says Cassidy thinks Paiz is lying and that he cannot be trusted, per the New York Post.
"She says that he'd say anything to get out of this," Cassidy's pal said. "It's lie after lie after lie. She doesn't think they had an intimate night together and she says that the entire interview was completely self-serving. She is looking forward to seeing what happens when he is prosecuted."
