Actress Robyn Lively is all-in on a potential Teen Witch sequel.
While attending the premiere of the upcoming Paramount+ series Landman last week, the 52-year-old was asked about her iconic role in the 80s camp classic, which happens to be celebrating its 35th anniversary this year.
Robyn Lively’s 'Teen Witch' Was A Box Office Bomb, But Eventually Became A Cult Classic
Initially concepted as a Teen Wolf spinoff, as SlashFilm notes, Teen Witch, which featured Lively as the titular witch, was universally panned upon its release in 1989.
For those unfamiliar with the movie, Lively plays Louise Miller, a high school student who wants nothing more than to be the most popular girl in school. After a chance meeting on her 16th birthday with Madame Serena, a seer and close friend of Louise’s in a former life, she discovers that she is a powerful witch who can enchant her way to making her wildest dreams a reality.
Thanks to home video releases and repeated airings on networks like The Disney Channel and HBO, Teen Witch eventually gained a strong and dedicated following. It has since been rebranded as a cult classic, due to its campy nature and catchy musical numbers, including “Top That” and “Popular Girl.”
Lively won the role of Louise after negotiations with 80s pop star Debbie Gibson fell through.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight last Thursday (November 14), Lively fondly recalled the experience of filming Teen Witch and celebrated the “sweetness” of the movie standing the test of time.
“Honestly, it’s so beloved to me because it resonates with so many people,” the actress stated. “People absolutely [still] love it. I cherish this film.”
She went on to share how the message of Teen Witch – finding your inner magic and staying true to yourself – is still relatable to this very day.
“It’s just so campy and fun,” Robyn reasons. “But it’s got a really sweet message. I think that’s why people love it so much.”

Unsurprisingly, talk soon turned to the potential for a Teen Witch sequel or reboot.
When asked if she would be interested in returning to the big screen as an adult Louise, Lively enthusiastically said she would.
“One hundred-percent,” she exclaimed. “For me, the story would be [me as] the mom and [her] daughter.”

In late October, Lively linked up with several of her co-stars from Teen Witch to mark the film’s monumental 35th anniversary.
As reported in PEOPLE, Robyn posted updated photos of herself alongside castmates Joshua Miller, Dan Gauthier, Lisa Fuller and Mandy Ingber – a.k.a. the actors behind Louise’s bratty brother, Richie; Brad Powell, Louise’s crush, cheerleader and Brad’s former girlfriend Randa, and Polly, Louise’s hat-wearing best friend, respectively.
In a sweet note with the snapshots, Lively thanked fans of Teen Witch for their longtime dedication to the film.
"35 years, b-witches,” Robyn wrote. “I can hardly believe it’s been that many years that we made this unsuspecting treasure. Having the opportunity to meet so many of you that love this film, [and] to read your delightful and sometimes heart wrenching comments here - you guys will never know how much it means to me."
"So, thank you, for sharing a piece of your heart and experiences with me," she continued. "Teen Witch fans are the absolute best! You have my heart!”

Over the last decade or so, many have come to know Robyn Lively through her younger sibling, who has also appeared on TV and movie screens worldwide.
That would be Blake Lively, star of Gossip Girl and her most recent project, It Ends With Us. The 37-year-old actress and Robyn have the same mother, but different fathers, according to PEOPLE. Blake’s dad, fellow actor Ernie Lively, would adopt Robyn after marrying their mother in 1979.
Blake’s equally-famous spouse, Deadpool’s Ryan Reynolds, appeared in a set of hilarious ads with his sister-in-law for Mint Mobile, a virtual mobile network that he co-owns, in 2022. The two played off their familial relationship for the company’s “Family Plan.”
