By Melanie VanDerveer on November 17, 2024 at 3:15 PM EST
Day one of the inaugural ComplexConLas Vegas is in the books and what an amazing experience it was!
The Blast was there all day - from the time the doors opened until about 8 p.m. and tried to catch as much of the excitement as possible. From visiting vendors downstairs, to attending celebrity panels upstairs, and the food court outside, I tried to experience a little of everything to bring you the best from ComplexCon in case you're considering going for day two of the action.
Spoiler alert! It was an amazing experience and highly recommended for any pop culture fan.
ComplexCon Day 1: Vendors, Food, Music, And More!
ComplexCon Las Vegas brought high-energy and combined it with the excitement of pop culture: sneakers, music, trendsetting brands, NBA, and more, all under one roof.
In addition to exclusive releases from influential brands, celebrity-filled panel discussions, delicious food (some curated by viral TikTok food critic, Keith Lee) and interactive activations, there were also live performances from Metro Boomin and Playboi Carti on Saturday. On Sunday, Travis Scott hits the stage for a high-vibe finale to the two-day event that brought out hundreds of thousands of fans from near and far.
The West Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center was filled wall to wall with vendors that added to the trendy, upbeat vibes. Some offered exclusive releases that had fans lined up for.
Snoop Dogg & Dr. Dre On 'Drink Champs' Filled The Room With Excited Fans
The line to catch an up-close glimpse of Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre was long, but worth the wait.
The two rap icons sat down for a live interview with N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN for a live taping of "Drink Champs" about an hour after the doors opened to the public. The room was packed with fans and the energy was high, a vibe we're all familiar with when it comes to Snoop Dogg!
When Snoop and Dre walked on stage, the crowd erupted in applause. The conversation on stage was just like a relaxed gathering of good friends who talked about topics fans were excited to be getting a front row seat to experience.
The two are currently working together on a new album and talked about how they began working together for the first time 30 years ago.
"The first album that I produced was 30 years ago. It was 1993, his first album, 'Doggystyle,'" Dre said. "We circled back. I don't know why the f--- it took so long."
Vendors Offered Unique Products And Exclusive Merchandise Drops
With so many amazing vendors, it was tough to stop at every booth, and every vendor had something eye-catching to grab the attention of convention-goers.
One booth that had something attention grabbing that many wanted to check out up close was streetwear jewelry brand King Ice with their latest collaboration with The Pokémon Company International. They unveiled a collection that celebrates three fan-favorite characters - Gengar, Snorlax, and the leader of the Squirtle Squad.
King Ice Founder, Derek Belay, had a minute to show The Blast some of the impressive collection and talk about how busy the booth had been all day long. Attendees at ComplexCon have first access to purchase the pieces that will go live on KingIce.com beginning on Monday, Nov. 18.
“We’re thrilled to partner with The Pokémon Company International to bring these beloved Pokémon as wearable art,” said King Ice Founder Derek Belay. “These pieces allow fans to celebrate their favorite Pokémon while embracing the streetwear style that King Ice is known for.”
Another vendor that grabbed tons of attention was renowned artist Dan Life, whose brand has been celebrated by collectors, as well as cultural icons such as Justin Bieber, Stephen Curry, Kylie Jenner, and Bad Bunny.
During ComplexCon, Dan has two activations, one in partnership with ESPN showcasing the iconic Sportscenter Top 10 Chain, and a second that debuts a collaboration with MVMT, the official timekeeper, celebrating the highly anticipated release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, with a 1-of-1 MVMT x Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Cali Driver Automatic Watch.

The Family Style Food Festival took over the outdoor space at the Las Vegas Convention Center throughout the two-day event. With both local favorites and some hidden gems, there was something for everyone's taste buds.
Viral TikTok food critic, Keith Lee, who lived in Vegas until recently, was also at the event, as well as a few of his favorite local eateries - Lefty-J's Island Favorites, Saint Honore, Buldogis, and Frankensons Pizza.
In addition to Lee's favorites, other popular Sin City restaurants on hand include, Pink Box Doughnuts, Lotus of Siam, Naked City Pizza, and Tiger Sugar. Other food options present are Mom's Spaghetti, Rokstar Chicken, Irv's Burgers and more.
Sneaker Of The Year!
Another panel that had a full house was the Sneaker of the Year panel with NBA star PJ Tucker and rapper Lil Yachty.
When the topic of Nike's legendary Wu-Tang Dunk entered the chat, Tucker revealed that he nearly paid $75,000 for a pair many years ago. The sneaker originally dropped in 1999 for promotional use only with only an alleged 100 pairs in existence.
"I found one [size] 14 in 15 years, and the dude wanted a house down payment for that," Tucker told the crowd filled with sneakerheads. "He wanted $75,000. Supposedly one of the only 14s. I actually thought about it, because I wanted the shoe that bad."
Later during the panel, Lil Yachty, who arrived late, revealed he nearly paid $1,000 more than Tucker would have for the same shoe.
"I came across a pair, it was like size 11 and $76,000," the rapper said. "It was crazy, I wanted them so bad, and it made me feel so poor."
Day 2 of ComplexCon is today, Sunday, Nov. 17. On the schedule: 360 with Speedy with iShowSpeed, Chase B, Spinall, Cactus Jack, and Travis Scott.
