Miley Cyrus stunned the red carpet in her slinky Met Gala dress ahead of the pandemic, but not everyone was a fan. Stepping out in style for that year's star-studded event, the 31-year-old slipped her curves into an impossibly stylish, Stella McCartney dress, going draping and ruched as she rocked the braless trend. Turning heads in her backless number, Miley flaunted her toned back and tattoos while looking glamorous, also rocking a back belly chain in gold with a small cross on it. Fans saw red carpet shots of the "Flowers" singer, plus BTS snaps. Unfortunately for Miley, it was the former sparking backlash.

Rocking a floor-length, sleeveless dress in satin, the Grammy winner highlighted her sculpted arms and shoulders, in particular drawing the eye to her gym-honed back.
Wearing her dress cut out to just above her waist, Miley also braved a plunging neckline, flashing her assets and nearly spelling out of her dress in one photo.

Keeping her jewelry discreet, but unusual, Miley drew the eye to her lower back cross, one she coordinated with her cross earrings. The pop sensation added an array of gold and silver necklaces, here accentuating her braless cleavage. Meanwhile, a soft face of matte makeup lifted her cheekbones, with dark eyeshadow adding dramatic flourishes.
The Daily Mail's users largely critiqued Miley on account of her tattoos, deeming the star's body ink "trashy" and saying that it made her look "cheap." Others, however, focused on the cross jewelry, something mogul Kim Kardashian recently got slammed for as she wore Princess Diana's famous Cross necklace. "
Told Fashion Choice Is 'Offensive'

Slamming Miley, one user gained likes for writing: "Why do women feel the need to dress like this and then wear a bunch of crosses? I'm not even very religious and I find it offensive." Thinking the singer was showing too much skin, another replied: "Wear something flattering without flashing everything. Everyone has seen all of it countless times. Not unique, attractive or appealing."
A third, meanwhile, stated: "That dress doesn't flatter her. Undergarments would help."

Miley Cyrus likely isn't paying attention to fan input when it comes to her style. With two major brand deals going on, she doesn't need to.
The above photo, shared earlier this year, showed her promoting designer Gucci while stripped to a sheer black pair of undies from the designer label.
As of 2024, the daughter to Billy Ray Cyrus is also an ambassador for rival brand Dolce & Gabbana.
