Singer Dolly Parton is asking Tennesse lawmakers to NOT move forward in building a statue of her on the capitol grounds, simply because it's just not the right time.

The country music legend posted a lengthy message on Instagram asked legislators in her home state to stop a proposed bill that would allow the government to erect a large statue of her on the site of the capitol.

Of course, the singer is "honored and humbled" by the gesture, she believes it's just not the right time to do it.

"I want to thank the Tennessee legislature for their consideration of a bill to erect a statue of me on the Capitol grounds. I am honored and humbled by their intention but I have asked the leaders of the state legislature to remove the bill from any and all consideration," the statement begins.

She continued, "Given all that is going on in the world, I don't think putting me on a pedestal is appropriate at this time. I hope, though, that somewhere down the road several years from now or perhaps after I'm gone if you still feel I deserve it, then I'm certain I will stand proud in our great State Capitol as a grateful Tennessean."

According to reports, state representative John Windle proposed a statue on the property to recognize several country icons who have contributed to the great state.

Back in June, an online petition was filed by fans hoping the country star's image would replace those which reflected statues dedicated to confederate officers.

"Tennessee is littered with statues memorializing confederate officers, history should not be forgotten, but we need not glamorize those who do not deserve our praise. Instead, let us honor a true Tennessee hero, Dolly Parton," the petition reads.

It continues, "Let's replace the statues of men who sought to tear this country apart with a monument to the woman who has worked her entire life to bring us closer together."

It should be noted, the singer's Dollywood Foundation and her other philanthropic endeavors are another reason many believe she is deserving of the statue.

Fans agreed, flooding her IG with messages like, "Your humility and willingness to continuously put others before yourself is so refreshing, especially in a world that seems to value selfishness more and more. One of many reasons I and so many others look up to you ?."
