The first week positioning for Cardi on the Billboard Hot 100 chart was solid as "Up" debuted at No. 2. This was right behind Olivia Rodrigo's "Drivers License."

Cardi still made history with Up as it became the highest debuting solo track by a female rapper on the Hot 100 this century. She broke Lauryn Hill's record for her "Doo Wop (That Thing)" single from 1998. The success of Up becomes Cardi's second consecutive top two single on the Hot 100 as well. The previous was "WAP" feat. Megan Thee Stallion last fall, which debuted at No. 1.
