Opening Credits For 'AHS: 1984' Are Here, Fans Not Impressed

Ryan Murphy released the opening credits for the highly-anticipated "American Horror Story: 1984" and he's not getting the reaction he had hoped for.
The creator of the show shared the season 9 opener on Thursday, less than a week ahead of the premiere, and "AHS" fans are giving them awful reviews on social media.
Announcing the original concept was created by a fan, Murphy said he liked the idea so much that he decided to bring him on the team to make it come to life.
Saying the fan, along with his longtime collaborator, Kyle Cooper, "evolved the concept into something major," Murphy added, "1980s horror never looked so good."

Any "AHS" fan knows the opening credits are vital, and with this show, creepier is better.
But Season 9's opener is all things '80s. Think Walkmans, jazzercise, fashion, etc. mixed with random shots of blood and knives.
The long-standing series will be paying homage to the days of vintage slashers, and the opening credits seem to miss their mark on grabbing that concept.
Fans aren't happy and making sure their opinions are known.
"Is this American Horror Story? No..." wrote one person in disbelief. "Not scary enough," added another.
One person stated, "This is so bad the fact that it looks fan edited makes it worse."

The long-standing series will be paying homage to the '80s in the days of vintage slashers, and there's several fan favorites that didn't make the cut.
Fan favorites Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd and Cody Fern are back, and star alongside newcomer Gus Kenworthy.
We'll see who survives camp when "American Horror Story: 1984" premieres September 18 on FX
