Hollywood star and former Republican Governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger, has finally broken his silence on the upcoming election.
The iconic actor slammed former President Donald Trump, noting that his actions during his presidency made him the worse option between him and Kamala Harris.
Although Arnold Schwarzenegger stated that he was not a fan of either presidential candidate, he stressed that a vote for Trump would cause more "divide" and chaos in the country, especially after he refused to concede to his loss in the 2020 elections.
Arnold Schwarzenegger Says 'I Will Always Be An American Before I Am A Republican'
In a shocking turn of events, the Republican politician and actor shared his endorsement for Vice President Harris in a lengthy post on X (formerly Twitter) while condemning Trump's past actions.
Schwarzenegger noted that he is not a fan of politics and doesn't "trust most politicians," but that his time as a Governor taught him to "love policy and ignore politics."
He said, "I'm proud of the work I did to help clean up our air, create jobs, balance the budget, make the biggest infrastructure investment in state history, and take power from the politicians and give it back to the people when it comes to our redistricting process and our primaries in California."
Schwarzenegger then expressed his disappointment in Trump's remarks about America, stating that it was "unpatriotic" of him to slander the country to the rest of the world and that the ex-president's remarks left him feeling "furious."
The actor continued, "And I will always be an American before I am a Republican. That's why, this week, I am voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. I'm sharing it with all of you because I think there are a lot of you who feel like I do. You don't recognize our country. And you are right to be furious."
Arnold Schwarzenegger Says Trump Sent His Supporters To Storm The Capitol While Watching With A 'Diet Coke'
The former bodybuilder went in on Trump regarding his actions during his presidency and how much divisiveness he caused, especially with his continued claim that the 2020 election was stolen from him.
Schwarzenegger said that Americans have a right to be angry that for decades, the government has done "nothing" about issues such as the "national debt" and failed to set up a "comprehensive immigration reform that secures the border while fixing our broken immigration system."
However, Schwarzenegger noted that a candidate like Trump, "who won't respect your vote unless it is for him," "who will send his followers to storm the Capitol while he watches with a Diet Coke," and a man "who has shown no ability to work to pass any policy besides a tax cut that helped his donors and other rich people like me," won't be able to solve America's problems.
He continued, "It will just be four more years of bullsh-t with no results that makes us angrier and angrier, more divided, and more hateful."
Arnold Schwarzenegger Says We Need To 'Close The Door On This Chapter Of American History'
In his lengthy post on X, Schwarzenegger shared that all Trump will continue to do if elected is "divide" and "insult."
The former Governor said, "We need to close the door on this chapter of American history, and I know that former President Trump won't do that. He will divide, he will insult, he will find new ways to be more un-American than he already has been, and we, the people, will get nothing but more anger."
Schwarzenegger continued, "That's enough reason for me to share my vote with all of you. I want to move forward as a country, and even though I have plenty of disagreements with their platform, I think the only way to do that is with Harris and Walz."
He added, "Vote this week. Turn the page and put this junk behind us. And even if you disagree with me, vote, because that's what we do as Americans."
The "Terminator" star ended his post by sharing a link to vote.org.
The Actor's Remarks About Donald Trump Have Caused A Stir Online
Since revealing his endorsement of Harris and why he won't support Trump, netizens have swarmed to his post to share their thoughts.
Several agreed with the iconic actor, noting that his stance reflected the importance of putting America first.
A person wrote, "Policy over politics is a refreshing stance! Focusing on tangible change and empowering the people can lead to real progress. Let's keep that momentum going!"
Another said, "I grew up admiring you. My mother is an immigrant and always talked about how great this country is too. You keep showing why you are the champion!"
A third person noted, "Your Republican Party was once mine. The [beliefs] and ideals of that party have sadly been driven out by Trump extremists. So we who were driven out must look still to what's best for America. Thank you for speaking up, Arnold! Maybe one day the party can return to its roots."
Arnold Schwarzenegger Once Joked About Donald Trump's Weight Claims
Last year, in October, Schwarzenegger made a playful remark about Trump's weight claims during an appearance on the popular late-night talk show, "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"
Due to his "expertise" in bodybuilding, the "Terminator" actor was asked to give his take on the reports that Trump weighs 215lbs, as noted in his Fulton County jail booking records.
"You know, I don't really know how much he weighs," the actor replied. "I can tell you one thing: if he would ask me what should he do for fitness, I would just say, 'Run around yourself three times and you're going to be in great, great shape.'"
Kimmel then asked if he believed Trump actually weighed 215lbs, which the action star seemingly refuted.
"Yes, as much as it is possible that there is no climate change," he joked. "And as much as it's possible that we don't need to reduce pollution."
"Look, we all know the way he is, and if it makes him feel good to tell everyone he weighs 215, I think everyone laughs about it because he does not look like he weighs 215," Schwarzenegger added. "He's a little more like 315."
