'Sister Wives' Christine & Meri Brown Share Contrasting Views On Community Breastfeeding Culture

Christine Brown and Meri Brown are once again at odds, this time over the sensitive topic of community breastfeeding within polygamous families. 

While Christine takes a more conservative stance, Meri revealed she once breastfed one of Kody's other wives' children, calling it a "medically necessary" decision. 

Christine Brown and Meri Brown's differing views come as no surprise, given their history of clashes, including last year when fans speculated that Meri was "misdirecting anger" at Christine.

In a recent episode of TLC's "Sister Wives," the conversation took an unexpected turn when the topic of community breastfeeding came up--an unusual practice within the polygamous culture. 

When an off-camera director asked, "There's this rumor that in the church a lot of the sister wives would sit around and breastfeed and swap kids around," Christine, never one to hold back, immediately dismissed the idea. She exclaimed:

"That is not true! No, that was a joke. That's disgusting."

On the other hand, Meri shared a different view. During her confessional, the mother-of-one revealed, "I actually breastfed one of our kids that was not my own child."

She clarified that this was not a casual occurrence but rather a "medically necessary" decision. "It wasn't something that we did on a regular basis just for fun, just for kicks and giggles," Meri shared, per PEOPLE. 

The conversation concerning the topic did not end with Meri and Christine. The issue sparked a lively discussion among the wives, revealing a range of opinions. 

Janelle offered her thoughts, saying that while she had never participated in the practice, it was due to medical reasons. "I've never breastfed another baby. I never had enough milk. I would have been hard pressed to do that," she shared during her own confessional.

Robyn, the youngest of Kody's wives, confirmed that the practice does occur in their culture. "Yeah, it's true. It's true. Women would breastfeed each other's babies. In our culture, I've seen it plenty of times," she admitted.

Robyn emphasized that it was not a casual exchange, likening it more to a supportive community effort. "It's not like musical babies. It's more of, like, necessity and help and, you know, a community of women being supportive to each other about their children and stuff," she shared. 

In the latest episode of the TLC show a familiar rift between Meri and Christine came to the forefront, highlighting the ongoing tensions that have long defined their relationship.

This disagreement follows a significant incident from last year when Meri expressed her frustration over the revelation of her melted wedding ring, a moment that stirred quite a bit of drama.

The details of the ring's unfortunate fate were disclosed by Christine, who had admitted her uncertainty about sharing the story, questioning whether it was appropriate to divulge such personal information.

Meri felt the mother-of-six had overstepped her boundaries by involving herself in matters related to their mutual ex-husband. While she seemed justified in her anger towards Christine's actions, fans of the TLC series took a different stance, siding with Christine in the debate.

In response to the bed and breakfast inn owners' reaction, The Blast reported that viewers took to social media to express their thoughts. One viewer pointedly remarked:

"Misdirecting anger at Christine isn't going to help anything. Everyone in the family at that point was involved in the situation around the ring... even if it was specifically affecting you the most... the person to blame is the person who created that situation at all, and that certainly wasn't Christine."

Echoing this sentiment, another fan criticized the entrepreneur for her misplaced fury, stating, "It's unbelievable to me that you're mad at Christine for mentioning the story, and yet you kissed Kody's -ss for 10 more years, and he's the one that melted your ring down... point your anger towards the correct person yourself and Kody. You get mad at the stupidest things."

Others joined the chorus of voices questioning Meri's reactions. "Kody did you dirty, not Christine. Stop protecting him! He is the one who said he never loved you," one commenter noted. 

Many supporters of Christine insisted that Meri should reevaluate her feelings, with one advising, "Wildly displaced anger at Christine (instead of Kody) over the ring situation. At this point, get over it or girl, see a therapist."

The drama began during the revealing "One-on-One" special with Sukanya Krishnan, where Christine discussed the fallout from Kody melting down Meri's wedding ring. 

At the time, Christine recounted the moment when Meri discovered her beloved ring was no more, recalling, "Well, Meri found out, she's like, 'Well, where's my ring? You don't wear it anymore. He's like, 'Oh, I melted it down,' just like that."

This shocking revelation by Kody was labeled "hurtful" by Christine, who explained that it prompted all the wives to come together to purchase new Claddagh rings, symbols of love, loyalty, and friendship among them.
