Jenna Fischer had a well-deserved night of fun at the Green Day’s 'American Idiot' musical just days after revealing her breast cancer diagnosis.
The 50-year-old star of "The Office" disclosed on October 8 that she has recently finished treatment for Stage 1 triple-positive breast cancer. She shared with her Instagram followers that she is now, fortunately, cancer-free after undergoing surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation treatment.
Choosing to share her news during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Jenna Fischer aimed to encourage other women to prioritize regular mammograms.
Jenna Fischer Attends Green Day Musical
The "Hall Pass" star shared a collage of photos from her fun night out on her Instagram page, telling her followers how much fun she had "rocking out to Green Day’s 'American Idiot' the musical at the Mark Taper Forum."
"Produced in collaboration with Center Theater Group and Deaf West Theater, this is a theater experience not to be missed," she added. "I love Green Day, 'American Idiot' is my favorite album, and I saw this show when it first came out years ago. I wondered how a rock opera might work with deaf actors in the lead roles. I’ve never seen that before and I’m so glad I got to see this show. It’s one I’ll never forget.
She then gave a "special shout out" to Choreographer Jennifer Weber, ASL Choreographer Colin Analco, and the ensemble of dancers. "The show was deftly directed by Snehal Desai in an impressive feat of controlled chaos, there is always something happening on stage and yet it all just flows so seamlessly and beautifully," Fischer continued. "Congratulations to this amazing cast of actors and musicians."

The 50-year-old also praised "the costumes, lighting design, set design, and projections." "There are so many departments working together to make magic here," Fischer wrote. "Incidentally, my great uncle is Robert Panara, co-founder of the National Technical Institute for the Deaf and National Theater of the Deaf. It was really cool to see this show and think of him and his impact on the deaf community."
Her fun night out came just days after she disclosed that she recently finished treatment for Stage 1 Triple Positive Breast Cancer.
"I'm happy to say I'm feeling great," she shared on Instagram last week, explaining that she was opening up about her treatment to encourage others to be vigilant about checking for signs of the disease. "If I had waited six months longer, things could have been much worse," she added.
Jenna Fischer Announces Breast Cancer Diagnosis
There are several types of breast cancer, and some, such as triple positive, are classified as hormone receptor-positive cancers. This designation indicates that the tumors are stimulated to grow by hormones like estrogen, progesterone, and a protein called HER2, which are naturally occurring in the body.
These cancers tend to respond more effectively to drug treatments that target these hormones, helping to inhibit the division and growth of cancer cells.
"My tumor was so small it couldn't be felt on a physical exam," Fischer, who was diagnosed with Stage 1 Triple Positive Breast Cancer, told her fans, adding that had she delayed her scans, "it could have spread."
"Should you get a breast cancer diagnosis, there is a village waiting to care for you," she promised.
