Lily-Rose Depp In Braless Open Robe Pitied For 'Stooping' Low

Lily-Rose Depp sparked pity last year after her father Johnny Depp endorsed her role in the explicit TV series The Idol. In July 2023, the Pirates of the Caribbean star made headlines for reportedly being "proud" of his daughter, who has risen from Chanel spokesperson and model to Hollywood actress. In a report documenting 61-year-old Depp's statement, The Daily Mail included a pixelated photo of Lily-Rose, 25, one showing her in a scene from The Idol while topless and in an open robe. Over 570 comments have been left, with many of the most-liked ones thinking the whole situation was sad.

Per a source close to Johnny, the Hollywood heavyweight is "proud" of Lily-Rose and "believes she must be doing something right to have gained so much attention." The HBO series, which includes heavy sexual themes and nudity, sees Lily-Rose play pop idol Jocelyn. Much of the show revolves around her relationship with nightclub owner, self-help guru, and cult kingpin Tedros, played by rapper The Weeknd.

The photo showed Lily-Rose exposing her bare chest as she sat on a wooden surface. Wearing only a slinky red satin robe worn open, the actress afforded a busty display, and it looks like both the photo and Dad Johnny's reported sentiments were creeping fans out.

Over 500 fans agreed when a user replied: "I found it very depressing to see a beautiful and talented young woman acting this part. It is so demeaning and much of the nudity and sexual acts are not necessary."

Bringing in dad Johnny, another gained likes for saying: "I don't think the young women in my family would stoop to that level of acting and have their fathers or, for that matter, anyone in the family proud of it.." The Idol premiered in May 2023 but was canceled in August of last year after only one season.

Further comments pointed the finger at Johnny, who shares Lily-Rose with French model and singer, Vanessa Paradis.

"If your daughter makes money by taking off her clothes…. You screwed up," one fan said. "Such a sad thing for a father to say. Sounds more like a show business manager than a dad" was yet another comment.

Lily-Rose Depp is no newbie to acting. In 2019, she received high praise for her role in the movie The King, costarring Tom Glynn-Carney. She is, however, best known for her celeb kid status and status as a long-term ambassador for French luxury designer Chanel.

In March 2022, the stunner shared this Instagram shot while promoting Chanel, posing in a tweed crop top and shorts while lowering her shades. Lily-Rose has fronted Chanel since 2015.
