Brittany Cartwright is not letting any false narrative thrive amid her divorce process with Jax Taylor.
The reality star reacted to the trending claim that her estranged husband filled in the wrong details in some essential legal documents, which has now placed the legitimacy of their marital status under scrutiny.
Jax Taylor reportedly made a mistake in his response to Brittany Cartwright's filing, giving her the sole legal and physical custody of their 3-year-old. However, it seems the "Vanderpump Rules" star made other errors.
Brittany Cartwright Clears The Air About Her Marriage To Jax Taylor
The 35-year-old was spotted in an Instagram comment section explaining her side of the story as reports get out that her marriage to the "Vanderpump Rules" star was not backed by the law.
"We are legally married. I'm guessing paperwork is hard for some people," clarified the mother-of-one. Taylor and Cartwright tied the knot in her hometown of Kentucky in 2019 and welcomed their only child, Cruz two years later in 2021.
Taylor reportedly checked a box confirming that he and Cartwright were "never legally married or registered in a domestic partnership." E! Online noted that he further fueled the confusion by checking a box to confirm that they were indeed married.
The Reality Star's Shocking Mistake In His Divorce Filing
The 45-year-old under the "Statistical Facts" section of his filing indicated the date of their marriage as June 29, 2019, and listed their separation date as September 26, 2024, which was the same day he filed a response to Cartwright's divorce filing.
However, the reality star seemed to have made a mistake calculating the "time from date of marriage to date of time" according to instructions in the document.
The confirmed date was between June 29, 2019, and September 26, 2024, which amounted to five years and 4 months. Instead, the reality star put down four years and six months.
Cartwright also indicated the same length in her filing and cited January 24, 2024, as the official date of their separation.
The Differences And Similarities In The Estranged Duo's Divorce Filing
Taylor and Cartwright's divorce demands shared stark differences, but interestingly maintained some similar stances on their issues, especially regarding their custody requests.
Cartwright asked the court to terminate her and Taylor's right to spousal support, while Taylor ticked the column requesting "future determination" of spousal support to Cartwright in his own filing.
Taylor also listed their Los Angeles home as their only asset and asked the court to split the property at a later time.
Like Cartwright, the "Valley" star requested sole legal and physical custody of Cruz. He also checked the "other" box under the "child support" section on the form.
The Estranged Couple Are Focused On Raising Their 3-year-old Son
Despite the tension in their divorce, the estranged couple share the common goal of making sure their son, Cruz remains safe and provided for.
The Blast reported that Cartwright, on her podcast on Tuesday, explained that their amazing co-parenting relationship is currently the most important thing in their books. She added, "Other than that, it is what it is."
She also noted that they would never let their conflicts get in the way of raising their son as they both share a deep love for him. "So even if Taylor and I are fighting, it's not going to ever come between Cruz," the podcaster explained.
Taylor also earlier disclosed that his son was one of the reasons he checked into a mental health facility to work on his anger issues. Upon his arrival, he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and PTSD.
Brittany Cartwright Convinced Jax Taylor To Seek Help
Though estranged, Taylor did not mince words in disclosing that Cartwright was a strong force behind his decision to seek professional help and has been trying to get him in that zone for a really long time now.
Taylor stated that everyone around him was tired of walking on eggshells around him and could no longer stand him taking them for granted.
He explained that his protracted hesitation to seek medical help stemmed from his background, where he grew up seeing it as normalto not ask for help.
The reality star then promised to raise his son differently and teach him that it is perfectly normal to ask for help when he is stuck.
