Lorde And Charli-XCX's Friendship Status Has Been Questioned

The road to peace within a new friendship can be a slippery slope, especially if insecurity infiltrates the relationship!

The "Liability" singer soon thought of a remedy for the underlying sense of insecurity among them and gave listeners an unforgettable bop in the process. As Charli detailed to Billboard, "I had to go through the process of telling her that this song is about her and her being okay with that first," adding that Lorde apologized for the feelings that inspired the song's content.

"[Lorde] replied straight away and was like, 'Oh, my God, I had no idea you felt this way. I'm so sorry.' And then was like, 'You know, maybe I should be on a version of the song.' I didn't even ask her. She brought it up," Charli said.

The song flows like a conversation between the two musicians and includes a strong sense of vulnerability in both of their traded verses. The remix is currently the most streamed song in Lorde's Spotify catalog.

Expressing her vulnerability to her fans is extremely common for Lorde, and she did so last year while experiencing issues with her gut health.

In a letter from last September, the "Homemade Dynamite" revealed to fans she had been dealing with an "inflamed" body.

"My body is really inflamed, it's trying to tell me something and I'm trying to support it but nothing seems to help and I get frustrated," Lorde opened up in the letter, as previously reported by The Blast.

Issues with her skin also influenced her mood at the time.

Listening to her body would be an ongoing priority for the "Perfect Places" singer, and she also shared her thoughts on the process.

"I've been trying to teach myself that this year, but it's been hard actually, pretty confronting, has made me fully aware of all the times I ignored it or didn't give it what it needed, shamed it for a fight or flight response, took a handful of pills and pushed through," Lorde revealed.
