Fans may find Lorde's preferred method of communication to be a bit 'old school': she updates her followers via a newsletter called "The Solar Institute."

The "Secrets From A Girl (Who's Seen It All)" singer took to "The Solar Institute" upon the first anniversary of the LP's release to share her reflections and feelings on the experience.

According to our piece on Lorde's message, she revealed to fans that the year since "Solar Power"s release was filled with the "highest highs and lowest lows I think I've ever experienced."

She went on to discuss her personal reckoning with listener perception.

"It took people a while to get the album- I still get emails every day from people who are just coming around to it now!- and that response was really confounding and at times painful to sit with at first."

Lorde continued, "I learned a ton about myself and how I'm perceived by making and releasing this album, and I significantly feel more connected and alive in my art practice and life pretty much than ever before. Sounds dry, but it's true!!!"

"Solar Power" was also a form of catharsis for the "Liability" singer. She would also recall how she felt during the recording of the album and compared her feelings to her current perspective.

"I used to sit alone in my hotel room on show days, binge-watching Bake Off, Ambien and Vitamin D on the bedside, my skin pale, my stomach knotted in fear. These days, I'm out the door in every city, walking for hours, eating gelato after dark, finding tiny wine bars, trying on vintage clothes down secret streets, laughing with friends, and playing better and better shows for you as a result," she went on to write.
