Whoopi Goldberg sent a clear message to Taylor Swift's haters, calling them out for blaming the singer over Travis Kelce's underwhelming performances.
The Hollywood veteran stood by the famous couple's side, claiming critics needed to "grow up" instead of believing Swift had negatively impacted the Kansas City Chiefs player.
Whoopi Goldberg's defense also touched on the tensions between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. She alleged that Taylor Swift's trolls were mad about her endorsement of the VP more than Travis Kelce's rough season.
Whoopi Goldberg Sends A Clear Warning To Taylor Swift's Critics
Goldberg shared her two cents about Swift and Kelce's drama in a recent episode of "The View," bluntly telling haters to cease their outrageous comments about the singer impacting her boyfriend's game performance.
She stressed that it was wild that fans believed Swift must be blamed for Kelce having just eight catches for 69 yards in three matches. The "Sister Act" star didn't mince her words against critics, saying:
"Grow up, y'all. Grow up! Stop putting this on her. Your team is fine; your team is doing well. Shut up!"
Goldberg's co-hosts supported her stance, with many describing the hate from Swift's critics as sexist and misogynistic. However, the EGOT winner took it further by claiming the backlash was political, per TMZ.
Goldberg Blames Donald Trump's Supporters For The Hateful Comments
According to Goldberg, Swift's endorsement of Harris sparked the recent criticisms against her. Although she did not mention Trump by name, she cited his "Make America Great Again" (MAGA) slogan, arguing:
"I'm blaming MAGA. I think it's them 'cause they're mad that she is not supporting you-know-who."
While Goldberg believed politics played a part in the hateful comments about Swift, Kelce, on the other hand, did not outrightly address the backlash. Instead, he owned up to having a rough season and vowed to improve.
Travis Kelce Breaks Silence On His Underwhelming Performances
The Blast recently reported that Kelce tackled the concerns about his game performance on his "New Heights" podcast. He acknowledged that he hadn't been in the best shape on the field, saying:
"We're finding ways to win games, but we're not playing our best football. Everybody can clean it up. I think everyone saw my drop in the fourth quarter with that crucial third down."
Kelce confessed that he was "trying to do too much before putting the ball away" and noted that he needed to focus more on "making the play in big-time moments."Another reason for his subpar performances was the opposing team's defenders.
"I think with how defenses are playing us right now, I'm not really getting a lot of opportunities to make plays down the field, but not using that as an excuse," Kelce noted about the defenders stopping his plays.
The Kansas City Chiefs Star Remains Positive
Kelce stressed that in the future, he would work on resolving the issue with the opposing team's defenders and claimed the Kansas City Chiefs were working on "tweaking their game in the right direction" and getting "better."
Despite his poor performances, Kelce said he wouldn't be disheartened, chiming: "Whatever it is, it's football, baby! Come on now, I'm not getting caught up in getting the targets and all that."
"I just wanna have a successful offense, and I think Pat's doing a great job of finding the open guy and making the right decisions right now," he added, noting that as long as his team continued "winning football games," they were "good to go, baby!"
Travis Kelce's Mom Defends Him Against Critics
Following the backlash against the Kansas City Chiefs player and his girlfriend, his mother, Donna, slammed critics for never putting themselves in the other party's shoes. She noted it was "tough" hearing the negative comments, saying:
"You know, I don't think they realize the pressure that people are under, whether they're athletes or professionals that are in front of the camera. And it's just very difficult; there's a lot of things going on behind the scenes."
"You don't realize how many times people are trying to keep you from catching the ball, or trying to trip you up or hit you… so it's kinda hard when you've got people that are in your face 24/7," Donna added, stressing that she was proud of her son.
