Vice President Harris has expressed her support for eliminating the filibuster in the U.S. Senate to reinstate federal protections for a woman’s right to an abortion, similar to those established under Roe v. Wade.

"I've been very clear, I think we should eliminate the filibuster for Roe, and get us to the point where 51 votes would be what we need to actually put back in law the protections for reproductive freedom and for the ability of every person and every woman to make decisions about their own body and not have their government tell them what to do," Harris told Wisconsin Public Radio host Kate Archer Kent.

In her first week as the presumptive Democratic nominee, Kamala Harris made abortion rights the centerpiece of her campaign rally in Milwaukee, emphasizing the importance of protecting reproductive freedoms.

“We, who believe in reproductive freedom, will stop Donald Trump’s extreme abortion bans because we trust women to make decisions about their own bodies and not have their government telling them what to do,” Harris said at the Massachusetts event in July. “If there are those who dare to take the freedom to make such a fundamental decision for an individual, which is about one’s own body, what other freedoms could be on the table for the taking?”
