Why Twitter Is Freaking Out Over Zac Efron's New Look

Over the past day, fans and non-fans alike of high school musical alumn Zac Efron have taken to Twitter to voice their opinions on what seems to be the actor's new look. In the picture we can see saw Zac with a "puffier" facial expression than usual. This has led a lot of people to speculate over whether or not the star had recent plastic surgery.

At this point in time, there has been no official statement released from Efron's team. Here are a couple of things, though, about the controversy that you should consider before taking a position.

The picture that is causing all of the commotion is actually a screenshot taken from a video of Zac that appeared in an Earth Day Musical special that was produced by Bill Nye the science guy.

The folks that are out there on social media defending Efron mention that the picture is just a product of the worst possible timing ever. How would you look if people took some random screenshots of your work Zoom call? That could be true, but what type of tale do other recent Efron pictures tell?

One of the things that seem to have fans really worried, is the fact that we really have not seen much of Zac Efron as of late. The actor has been living in Australia for the past year while filming his Netflix Series.

In looking through some of the more recent footage of the Netflix series that is set to start streaming its second season pretty soon, and some of the posts on Zac's social media it doesn't seem his face is all that different.

Right off the bat when the first pictures of Zac on social media started to show up fans made a clear connection. Zac's new face seemed strikingly similar to another character that is beloved by the kids. The handsome Squidward meme put side by side Efron while a ton of Twitter users cursed Zac for having gone through plastic surgery.

As was mentioned before, there is no clear indication that Zac has had any type of surgery. In most of the other "recent" pictures that we have of him he doesn't feature that handsome squidward face.

As was mentioned before, Zac has been spending a lot of time in Australia over the past year. There he filmed Down to Earth with Zac Efron. A bit of a documentary series that follows Zac around Australia as he exhibits different issues with natural disasters and other types of situations.

For now, it does not seem that Zac is actively looking to get back into a big Hollywood blockbuster. Instead, he is more focused on voice work and other ventures in his life.
