In May, The Blast noted that Munn revealed in an interview that she went in for a complete hysterectomy to help with her breast cancer treatment and recovery.

"I have now had an oophorectomy and hysterectomy. I took out my uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries," she shared.

Munn explained that her medical team recommended the procedure to help stop the production of estrogen, which aids and feeds the growth of luminal B breast cancer.

She stated that it was the right thing to do, adding: "It was a big decision to make, but it was the best decision for me because I needed to be present for my family."

Munn's Hysterectomy Marks Her Fifth Time On The Surgery Table

So far, Munn has undergone five surgeries in her cancer journey, including her latest procedure. The actress has previously gotten a full double mastectomy, a lymph node dissection, reconstructive surgery, and a nipple delay.

Munn recalled using Lupron to suppress the estrogen production in her body before finally taking the big plunge with her surgery. The actress noted that Lupron's side effects kept her weak and debilitatingly exhausted for days, as she stated:

"I would wake up in the morning and almost immediately need to get back into bed. If you asked Malcolm, 'Where does daddy work?' He'd run to his desk, the star noted. And if you asked him, 'Where does mommy work?' He'd point to my bed."

The actress felt lucky to have caught the disease when she "had options" to address it, and advised other women to take the test on time. Munn also expressed her optimism that her story will help other breast cancer warriors find "comfort, inspiration, and support on their own journey."
