According to NBC, federal prosecutors want the rapper locked up until trial following his arrest on charges of racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution.

The rapper was taken into custody on Monday night in New York after a grand jury indicted him.

He is eligible to seek bail, but federal prosecutors are expected to oppose it, arguing that his detention is necessary given the severity of the case.

"We will be seeking detention," U.S. Attorney Damian Williams told the press. "There is a presumption of detention in a case like this, and we think that's warranted."

According to prosecutors, Diddy poses a flight risk, and they defended their stance by displaying images of weapons seized during raids on the rapper's homes.

Some of the weapons included AR-15s, which were discovered in Diddy's bedroom closet. They were "broken down into parts, along with magazines with ammunition loaded in them," and also had their serial numbers defaced.

When asked about concerns for Diddy's safety behind bars, drawing parallels to Jeffrey Epstein's suicide, prosecutors dismissed the possibility and doubled down on the need to detain Diddy.

"We are concerned with anyone's safety whenever they are detained prior to trial, it's part of our obligation," Williams noted in his conversation with reporters. "Our position is that pretrial detention is warranted (for Combs) under the law and based on the facts of this case."

As part of the indictment, several details about Diddy's crimes were also revealed.

It was mentioned that the rapper "engaged in a persistent and pervasive pattern of abuse toward women and other individuals," per the Daily Mail.

This included striking, punching, and dragging these women, along with other instances of throwing objects at them.

He also used a criminal organization, The Combs Enterprise, to perpetrate the crimes he is charged with, as well as other illegal activities, including kidnapping, arson, and bribery.

The organization also appears to be the channel with which Diddy "arranged" and "directed" an illicit venture called the "Freak Offs," where drugged women engaged in "elaborate" sex performances with male prostitutes.

Moving forward, Diddy has no intention of pleading guilty to the charges. The rapper's lawyer, Marc Agniflilo, confirmed the rapper's stance, adding that the music mogul will fight the charges with "all his might."

Agnifilo also condemned the indictment as "unjust" and said that the rapper is "not a criminal."

"We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr Combs by the US Attorney's Office," he added in a statement shared with The Blast.

The lawyer continued, "Sean 'Diddy' Combs is a music icon, self-made entrepreneur, loving family man, and proven philanthropist who has spent the last 30 years building an empire, adoring his children, and working to uplift the Black community. He is an imperfect person, but he Is not a criminal. To his credit Mr. Combs has been nothing but cooperative with this investigation and he voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these charges."

Agnifilo concluded, "Please reserve your judgment until you have all the facts. These are the acts of an innocent man with nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court."
