Miley Cyrusis facing an unexpected consequence for her viral single-ladies anthem, "Flowers."
The sensational singer was recently named in a copyright infringement lawsuit for allegedly sampling bits of Bruno Mars' hit tune, "When I Was Your Man."
Surprisingly, Bruno Mars isn't the one suing Miley Cyrus but Tempo Music Investments. Their grievances with the songstress come a year after she released the catchy track.
Miley Cyrus Involved In New Lawsuit Involving Bruno Mars
The drama over Miley's song began after Tempo Music Investments accused her of copying Bruno's tune. They argued that multiple similarities between the tracks proved copyright infringement had occurred.
According to the plaintiff, Miley's "Flowers" melody, harmony, and chorus originated from Bruno's "When I Was Your Man."Her song, per their claims, also copied the latter's chord progressions and mirrored some of his lyrics.
Bruno's song was released in 2012 and topped numerous charts, with Tempo Music Investments noting that Miley, her label, and her producers all had access to the hit tune. Based on these claims, the aggrieved party, per TMZ stressed:
"It is undeniable based on the combination and number of similarities between the two recordings that 'Flowers' would not exist without 'When I Was Your Man.'"
The Plaintiff Wants Miley To Stop Performing 'Flowers'

Tempo Music Investments doubled down on Miley's Grammy-winning song not achieving the fame it did if it did not originate from Bruno's catchy tune. On that note, they asked the court to stop the songstress from performing "Flowers."
Additionally, they requested for her to be barred from distributing the song. Although Bruno wasn't named a plaintiff in the lawsuit, Tempo Music Investments noted they owned a share of the copyright for the singer's 2012 tune and could sue Miley for infringement.
The company's lawsuit comes a year after Miley released her single-ladies anthem, a song that continues to make waves in 2024. Forbes reported in June that her catchy tune made history by holding the number-one spot on multiple music charts.

According to the report, Miley became the first singer to reach the triple-digit mark atop the airplay lists. Her 2023 tune was the first viral song in American history to spend a cumulative 100 weeks at No. 1 on any of Billboard's radio charts.
The singer's single-ladies anthem ruled five different radio lists and maintained the top spot on one radio tally for several months. Her tune dominated the Adult Contemporary tally for an impressive record of 51 weeks.
Miley also topped the all-genre Radio Songs chart for 18 weeks and ruled the Adult Pop Airplay tally for just one frame less. Her song also sat atop the Pop Airplay roster for ten weeks, while the remixes of "Flowers" earned her the highest spot on the Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart.
Miley Has One Activity She Stopped Doing With Her Mother
While Miley's song topped the music charts in June, The Blast reported she reflected on her sobriety after years of engaging in drugs and alcohol. She revealed that weed had become a vice to avoid, specifically, the type her mother used.
"I will randomly take one small puff off my mom's joint, pretty much never because it's way too strong," Miley noted about Tish Cyrus' weed, sharing that she wasn't the only one affected by it.
"My mom gave Wiz Khalifa a panic attack 'cause her weed was too heavy," Miley claimed. As for what made her stop participating in the activity with Tish, the singer confessed:
"The last time I smoked her weed was a couple weeks ago, and I did walk in and take the smallest puff ever, and I couldn't drive for what felt like three days, and I didn't know who I was."
Miley Cyrus Introduced Her Mother To Smoking
Although Tish could use more potent substances than Miley, the matriarch was introduced to smoking by her daughter. The singer confessed she made her mom start taking weed to help with anxiety whenever she was on tour.
Recalling Tish's reaction to the drug, Miley said: "She goes, 'OK, but just don't tell anybody 'cause I'm a good Christian woman.' But she loved it. She had the best time, and she smoked weed ever since."
Tish confirmed her daughter's claims about her anxiety, noting: "I think my biggest fear was her moving out. She definitely had financial ways to be able to move out before she was 18, and you see that a lot with kids in Hollywood. But she didn't."
Miley Cyrus and her family have yet to react to the copyright infringement lawsuit.
