Lil Nas X Details Nights Of Crying Due To Mother's Drug Addiction

Lil Nas X has been creating controversy since the end of April with the release of his "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)" single. This soon turned into bad reactions toward his Nike Air Max 97 "Satan Shoes" with MSCHF.
Last week, Nas X faced backlash after his mother was seen in the streets of his hometown of Atlanta, asking people for money. Many wonder why Nas X hasn't helped her get out of this situation while others feel that Nas X may have done all that he could've.
Nas X Explains Pain Felt From Mother's Addiction
In a now-deleted tweet, Nas X reveals that he did try to help his mother but nothing worked. This resulted in him having nights of crying due to this very unfortunate circumstance.
"I hate speaking on my personal life but y'all n*ggas don't know how many nights I've cried myself to sleep feeling guilty because nothing i tried would help my mom. Paint me as the bad guy all you want, but at the end of the day, you don't know me outside of this internet sh*t."
Nas X's Father Defendeds Him And Nas X's Mother
Last week, Nas X's father took to Instagram to voice his support for his son amid the backlash. He also labeled his mother as a "queen."
"Despite what people say @lilnasx is the greatest kid a parent can be BLESSED with. Although his mom is in a struggle with an addiction she's STILL a QUEEN and he goes through great lengths to make sure we're taking care of. Those who have family members and friends dealing with addiction understand that there ain't enough money you can throw at this situation to make it right."
Nas X Said In 2020 That He Didn't Have Much Of A Close Relationship With His Mother
In early 2020, Nas X also spoke with Variety about the relationship he has (or lack of) with his mother. He detailed how her addiction was the cause of them not having a good relationship. Nas X also added that even back then, he did try his best to help his mother get out of the state that she was in.
"She's an addict so we don't have the closest relationship. Even trying to get her better - things didn't quite work out. But there's still love...."
Nas X's 'Montero' Single Became No. 1 Song In US
Even with so much controversy that Nas X is dealing with online, his music career is still booming. The release of his "Montero" single was huge as it went on to debut at No. 1 on the.Billboard Hot 100 chart. The music video for it also currently has close to 145 million views. Nas X's debut studio album will also be named after the single. This project is expected to be released sometime in the summer.
