Reggie Bush has spoken out after an attempted burglary at his Los Angeles mansion.
The former NFL star, in a brief statement, confirmed the frightening incident but reassured fans about his family's safety. This incident comes as L.A. has seen a surge in celebrity home burglaries, with stars like Chet Hanks, Bhad Bhabie, Marlon Wayans, and Daniela Braga among those previously targeted.
Luckily, Reggie Bush's home was spared from becoming the latest victim. He joins the list of public figures taking extra precautions amid the rising burglary threats.
Reggie Bush Confirms Safety Of His Family After Burglary Attempt
The terrifying incident occurred on Tuesday, September 10, when three men attempted to invade the property. According to the LAPD, a resident of the home heard the sound of a window shattering, and broken glass was found outside the property.
Fortunately, the would-be burglars didn't manage to steal anything before fleeing the scene. Afterward, the former running back spoke out following the attempted break-in. Bush confirmed the ordeal in a brief text to the LA Times, reassuring fans that "everyone is safe."
The police also reportedly revealed that three suspects, all dressed in black, were spotted leaving the area shortly after the attempted break-in.
The Los Angeles Police Department is continuing its investigation into the incident, but Bush's quick response ensured that his home and family avoided becoming the latest victims in the city's recent surge of celebrity-targeted burglaries.
Bush Suffered The Burglary Attempt Months After Reclaiming His Heisman Trophy

While it is unclear what the burglars were after, it is hard not to think about Bush's hard-won victory in reclaiming his coveted Heisman earlier this year. PEOPLE shared that in 2005, Bush was at the peak of his college football career, having earned the prestigious Heisman Trophy.
However, in 2010, following an NCAA investigation that found Bush had accepted impermissible benefits while at USC, he was forced to return the award.
It took 14 years, but on April 24, 2024, the Heisman Trust announced that the trophy would be reinstated to him, acknowledging the sweeping changes in college football.
One of which was the NCAA's new "Name, Image and Likeness" (NIL) policy, which now allows college athletes to profit from their brand.
After the announcement, Bush proudly shared a photo of the trophy with the caption, "No one can take from you what God has for you," celebrating his long-awaited win.

Before the police arrived, Bush managed to scare off intruders attempting to break into his Encino mansion. Around 11 PM, burglars targeted the $5.65 million property, smashing a window before the 39-year-old's quick thinking forced them to flee.
The Blast reported that the burglars accessed the home despite its state-of-the-art security system, which reportedly includes surveillance cameras and an alarm system, which is walled and gated off.
After hearing the sound of breaking glass near the rear entry of the house, Bush reacted immediately by screaming for help, which startled the suspects and caused them to flee before they could do further damage.
By the time the police arrived, the suspects were long gone, but officers did find broken glass at the scene.
At the time, it was unclear if the burglars could steal anything before being scared off. However, thanks to the father-of-three's fast response, his family avoided what could have been a much more serious incident.
Like Bush, Chet Hanks Also Foiled A Burglary Attempt
Bush's recent burglary scare parallels another celebrity incident involving Chet Hanks. While Bush successfully scared off his intruders with quick thinking, Chet took a more hands-on approach when he found himself in a similar situation.
As reported by The Blast in November, Chet managed to fend off a would-be burglar using nothing but his fists. The actor delivered a punch to the intruder, holding him at bay until deputies from the L.A. County Sheriff's Department arrived.
However, the arrest did not go as smoothly for the officers. During the struggle, one deputy sustained a broken leg while both the suspect and the injured officer were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Chet emerged from the ordeal unscathed, and the suspect later faced burglary charges.
Reggie Bush Moved To Legally Change Son's Name Months Before Scaring Off Burglars
Before the recent headlines about Bush's encounter with burglars at his L.A. mansion, the former Buffalo Bills player was focused on a more personal matter: his son's name change.
The doting parents had kept their son's conception private, only revealing the pregnancy a few months before his birth, with Bush's wife, Lilit Avagyan, sharing a now-deleted photo showcasing her baby bump on Instagram.
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Bush and his wife petitioned to legally alter the spelling of their third child's name from "Agyemang Bush" to "Agyeman Bush."
The couple's reasoning for the subtle adjustment was to remove the "g," though the change came six years after their son's birth.
Thankfully, Reggie Bush's actions prevented further damage, but with more stars falling victim to burglaries, the need for heightened security among public figures has never been more apparent.
